this is clearly a bad design from LG. after getting mine fixed it was very obvious that the pivot (between motor and flapper assemblies) was still flexing when the mechanism cycled. out of curiosity... how long has this repair lasted for those that have had this issue?
The problem was exactly like the one in your video. My fridge must be a newer model since the removal of the icemaker insert was easier and did not require moving a lever through the ice chute. I was hesitant at first but I got an estimate for repair which included a diagnostic trip charge and are turn trip with parts. Calculating it could be a $500 + service repair, I tackled the project with faith in your video. I appreciated the advice of NOT using super glue, which totally made sense. I also used a 1" screw so hopefully it never happens again. Seems like this issue is really a manufacturer defect? The Grok Shop Rocks!
So due to the fact that I'm on a newer version of Kodi I need to use artwork dump. artwork dump says it can also download locally to the file system however I don't see an option or any way to set that. Any ideas?
I have a 2010 Club Car DS. What about if I have to press down hard on my brake pedal to stop? What would be the solution to help improve the brakes on that?
Second time this video has saved my arse. I had mold in there and took it apart to clean it. Watched the video about a 100 times for one small part that I was having an issue with. Finally fixed it. Had the repair company coming tomorrow but canceled them. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this video! I had the exact problem once I opened up the dispenser. Your video was so helpful in showing your solution which I used too. It’s literally 10 cents to replace the 1/2 inch screw with a 1 inch screw and that would have likely prevented the part failure in the first place. Thanks again for taking time to video this and to share it!
I can't wait to try this. My LG is 12 years old. The ice dispenser still works perfectly but the light stopped working. And when I shined a light up inside the chute, I was shocked to see all of the mildew. These disassembly instructions will help me to access the flap and other interior parts to clean them. I cannot understand how LG could make a product that cannot be easily cleaned. Do you have any tips of how to repair light that is supposed to come on when dispensing ice ?
I am very handy and like to do all of my repairs. But honestly, I had no idea how to tear into this icemaker. Outstanding video made it absolutely easy for me to fix the repair. Mine was broken the same as the video so all I had to do was clean everything up and go to the store and buy the same screws that you displayed. Thank you very very much for making my life easier. Same for me. I fixed mine today. The break was in the exact same spot on my fridge. I used auto trim removal tools to remove panel. Only broke off one tab.
Greatly appreciate the repair video. Adding that I found that a plastic trim removal tool to be the easiest approach to popping out the 12V socket and aux port housings without scratching up the dashboard. I just used one from a cheap Harbor Freight set. The corner of a thin putty knife also works great for removing the circuit board from the housing.
