Bicyclist struck, killed in Palo Alto 

Hello. Her name was Sarah. She was French and was in the United States for an university project of 3 months. Having a bike was her means of transportation. It is with immense sadness that we await her repatriation. Have a good day.

Thank you for calling it a collision and not an accident. This is necessary for a mind shift in attitudes.

Every time there is an accident between a car and a bike, I see some comments complaining about bikes not following the rules, as if it is assumed they were at fault. Even if they are at fault (which is not true many times, including this instance it seems as there is a clearly marked left turn lane for bikes at that intersection where the victim was waiting), cars should realize that the bikes are vulnerable, therefore be forgiving. There are many people commuting to work or school on bikes, reducing traffic congestion; there are many recreation cyclists. Drivers of cars, we are in a metal cage that can kill, so please have some empathy and be forgiving. Let’s not get worked up on who is at fault, that’s not the point - the important thing I ask is everyone please be forgiving and care about others on the road by being vigilant regardless of who is right. We can save many families and friends with a bit of humanity 🙏

I advise all Cyclists out there not to go cycling at night when there is poor visibility and drivers sometimes may not see you.

As a bicyclist, I always remember that I am less visible than a vehicle - especially at night. Compared to a car, I have less reflective surface as well. By bicycle has less speed, but more than much more than a pedestrian. In other words, I am more difficult to see. Also, I don't ride at night.

That area is too narrow, and sharing the road with bicyclists is another obstacle to deal with.. Too dangerous

We need to have device at intersections to enforce bikers to stop at every red light stop signs

I ride motorcycle every day in SF. I see cyclists running red lights, riding way too fast, and screaming at cars for being in their lanes. U can't expect motorists to see bikers especially at night. Bikers have ride defensive. Don' assume motorists see u.

This woman cyclist caused her own death. Sometimes cyclist are entitled and reckless.

The Honda had a green light! Which indicates that the cyclist was in the wrong. You can't automatically assume the cyclist is a victim!

In the old days we road on the sidewalk in areas with traffic. Today i still do the same thing except with more common sense. Rip young lady💔

So we have to do more to stop bike riders from running red lights. Maybe we make bike riders pay an annual registration fee and pass an exam to have the privilege to ride on public streets.

Bicyclist need to quit acting like they are cars that have the right of way. They choose a more fragile mode of transportation because it is cheaper than a car, you get what you pay for.
