Sure, raising tariffs on cheap EVs and cheap solar panels helps transition to green technologies. USA should add some more subsidies for hydrogen too, like EU, or poor fossil fuel companies will get homeless. Great example of market economy.

This will not improve current economic conditions affecting the EV market. This just protects them from competition that can financially affect them. It's not like there are a lot of Chinese EV imported into the U.S. EV stocks will go down again.

Read up on history. Detroit became a joke because 1) automation no longer requires as many workers, 2) the white flight. 3) then other automakers caught up.

I think this would have been a good idea if the tariffs were even across the board. Wasn’t planning on raising taxes, adding more regulations and wasn’t trying to slow down fossil fuel production.

It's just sad we have to admit our car companies didn't innovate and can't compete in the global market. It's clear that they wouldn't have been competitive products even with the same amount of government money some Chinese automakers got. Remember when some were calling GM "Government Motors" because of the all the bailout money they got? China still bought our cars after that. Buick used to be a top brand over there.
