Americans live in an illusion that they choose their president. In fact all candidates regardless of which party are carefully filtered by a very powerful lobby who finance them. Americans get to choose from the ones which have already been chosen. P.S: Trump is an exception that's why everybody in that lobby is so afraid of him that they have filed hundreds of lawsuits against him.

Very likely, the US reached the tipping point at least 25 years ago. At some point in the future, historians will be able to look back and pinpoint the events that initiated the start of the decline. I think of the eight or so reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire. The US has followed every one of them. I used to discount the reason of "barbarians at the gate" but given the gatecrashing mess at the southern border and over-immigration in general, I now think it's appropriate to include it.
