After months of work and anticipation, I'm finally ready to announce that a new line of deer hair products will be available exclusively through Galloup's Slide Inn! The intent is to bring the fly tyer the best possible hair and eliminate the guess work in getting quality hair.

Just finished tying a half dozen deer hair flies using your deer hair that I bought from the Slide Inn. The hair was great - long, straight and consistent. Will be ordering more soon. Thank you.

Awesome, I'm glad you liked the hair! I'm going to keep fine tuning the product but overall I'm pretty happy with it to this point. The hide finish is what I've been focusing on a lot lately, I think I have just about all the kinks worked out. Thanks again!

Fantastic. Hope it works out for you. Saw Kelly’s thing. Personally the short fine is what is looking for. Last “Comparadun” coastal is got from HL was absolute junk 1 3/4” long trash. Also I acid died kapok ( royal pain) but a little Urea helps get a more consistent color. Try in a small bath and see if that doesn’t help ya out. And in the short fine a light dun would be nice. Can’t wait and good luck.

Thanks Mike! 1 3/4" long for short fine? Folks should be locked up for trying to pass that off as short! I did try the urea trick and it did help out some but the black is still not quite where I want it. I'll get it though. I will be sourcing the short fine here in about 2-3 months and hope to have a lot of it this year. I will certainly have a few dun options available. Thanks again!

As soon as you have “grab bags” of the parts and pieces that don’t make a standard size, I’m buying 2 gallon sized bags of it. Incredible colors, and I know the quality will be second to none. Love your videos and attention to detail, and the same goes for Kelly. Can’t wait to get my hands on some of this. Thanks again, keep at it, can’t wait to buy some and tie along with your latest videos when you get to back your vise!

I have about a 55 gallon barrel full of trim pieces that I need to bag up. I should have them available here in the next few months as we get into the heart of tying season. Thanks for your patience and for the kind words on the content!

Tis is exciting news Josh! Are you still in Montana then? Sounds like you are extremely busy, but I hope that we can fish together again. Don. (We had that very cold float on the lower Gallatin a few years ago.)

Hey Don, I am still in Montana but unfortunately getting re-stationed to North Carolina in August. I'll be back in a few years when I retire though. We'll have to get out then for sure!

Some of it is very close to a natural black and others is a lot lighter. I'm still ironing out some kinks with it but it's coming along.

Very exciting. I don't live near a good fly tying shop so I must order most of my materials. Necks and saddles from Whiting, Metz and others have become so consistently good that I am able to order them without too many qualms. Deer hair, however, has been much more of a crap shoot. It will be such a relief to be able to count on the quality of the hair I purchase.

Ya, it is unreal how far necks and saddles have come over the years! That was my plan when it came to the hair. I want quality over quantity and if you don't need absolutely prime hair for a certain pattern, we'll have to mid grade stuff for your muddlers, bow rivers, etc.

Thanks Nat, we do have a lot of good white belly hair. I shared your frustration with the quality of that stuff as well. I really take my time and sort that belly hair carefully. I would get so mad when I'd get a bag of essentially cotton to try to tie with!

Hell of a job Josh! That is some awesome looking deer hair; plus the colors are fantastic. Nothing worse than getting shitty deer hair from an online fly shop. Being from Michigan I tie a lot of mayflies with deer hair bodies, so always looking for new colors. Cheers

Thanks JP! Ya, there is nothing more frustrating than rolling the dice on a piece of hair online. I got one spinning piece in that I threw right in the trash. I want folks to have confidence in the hair they are getting. The mayflies with deer hair are awesome! I use to tie a lot of Eastern Drakes with deer hair and they were bullet proof!
