You always give good laughs 😃, that's one of the many reasons I watch so many of your videos. I simply enjoy watching you enjoying your life with Grady, Cooper, the cats and whoever else happens to be around. It's refreshing so thank you for sharing.
Yay! Binged watch old episodes and all caught up. Fun watching your haul while I do a low spend year forcing myself to use all those art supplies I already have in my studio.
Preparing for the first of the season art fair where I'm peddling my paintings. I told my friend I absolutely get joy from the process of creating, so if there someone buys one, or two, or three it's a bonus. Nervous though....which is sooo unlike me. Wish me luck!😅
I was going to suggest that also. I use them. For something smaller, Sandi, they sell little needle holders in the notions section. They’re small but longer than your little matchbox and slide open like a matchbox. Fun haul!!! TFS.
Sandi, you crack me up sometimes. This was fun to watch. I like the little boxes you use for things like the match box, and jewelry case. Thumbs up. Yes. It's currently too cold for me to get back outside (northern Illinois), but I do a lot of painting in my studio. Just want to say that you inspire me to try different things. Although I'm not into really lose painting, I try different things. I'll go as far as Impressionism, but not abstract. but I do enjoy your art hauls and little things you get into. HOpe you see this comment.
This video is awesome! You just made me laugh so much. Thank you for the art haul. That Cooper is such a sweetie. Have a great weekend Sandi and Grady. ❤🌻🌻🌻
I have been bindge watching all your videos and it was so wonderful to watch while recooperating from covid. You have inspired me to be more painterly and I just love your quirky style and that Grady is so involved and supportive in your art. I love all your haul video and seeing what other artists use and why they use the art supply it is very helpful. I started playing in sketch books again and love the nature scenes you paint. Perspective and simplicity in your nature paintings really something I want to learn and try more. I dabble in all kinds of mixed media art and you have inspired me to use my supplies differently. Thank you for all you do.
Love your channel! You've encouraged me to expand my horizons thru paint and pastels. Thanks, Sandi! 🎨🌹💖 I used to do a lot of collage work and some of my pieces were shown. Thru practice, I've discovered that I prefer the Liquitex Heavy Matte Gel Medium that comes in a couple sizes, in jars. Something about it made paper pieces buckle wayyyy less often. It also doesn't take a lot to get things stuck together nicely.
I have a screaming orange Kanken, same size! The Apple laptop can fit in the seat pocket. My daughter and I have several, and we love them. You will, too! Love your laptop stand painted. TY much for your videos!
I just watched this video again and about choked on my cookie! Sandi you are so funny. Love this video for the second time. Love your sense of humor. 😅
What a fun video, you crack me up and make me want to go play with my art supplies in my studio. RU-vid didn't even notify me that you had a video up. I saw it on Instagram and came to check it out. With the matte mediums, if you use Press N Seal cling wrap over the top and down the sides past the end of the cap, it will keep the cap from sticking and keep the air out. I discovered this after my WN Matte Medium cap stuck to the bottle so hard that is broken when I went to remove it. I was able to glue it back together and strengthen it by wrapping masking tape around the outside of it. The Press N Seal really works well and I have no worries about it drying out or getting the cap off. You can Scotch Guard the bag (it comes in a spray) and it would be wipeable to clean it off.
when you said "little match" in case you got stranded in the woods.... i lost it! i am still laughing about it at the end the video... and Grady reminding you that you would still have your phone in that case, it was so funny. your Haul Videos are the best -- all of your videos are wonderful -- but to see how excited you get about art supplies, it makes me so happy.
ı love art haul videos and I watched almost every video on youtube. The ones that have almost no views to the most popular ones and with no hesitation, Sandi's art videos are the best. I literally watched them over and over again. She is the best :)
40mins. I need to go to bed. I thought it was a shorter video now it is 11:45 nearly midnight. Oh well. I will let it slide as it’s you. You inspire me so much. You keep me going and I am starting to paint looser on my 6X4 sketches that I do daily and I’m enjoying it
Oh my goodness, when I'm scrolling through RU-vid and I see a Sandi Hester video pop up, I'm like Wait🤚🏽is that new👀 😁 and then I wait a few days before I watch it, like a child shaking a present in anticipation 😄 Your quirkiness, your vibrancy, and your sheer joy for art and cute things brightens my days, and reminds me that there are other people out there like me who 🤗 can't keep their joy underwraps when it comes to wonderful things. Thanks for sharing😁
I am type 1 too, I am wearing a Dexcom G6 and Apple Watch! It is not the most discrete in public when an alarm go off! But it’s the best thing after toothbrushes! Have fun my dear!
Sandi, we're all artists, we understand. A trip in the woods leads to something more interesting deeper in the woods. Eventually you stumble upon a cave and before you know it you're half a mile underground. Take the match. Take two. 😁
I absolutely love your joie de vivre! You cheer me up and inspire me to just embrace life. Thank you! Hopefully the RU-vid algorithm will push your videos out to more people because it’s such an awesome channel.
This video is definitely going on the favorite list. I was CRYING 'cause I was laughing so hard about your safety features. I would totally spray myself. I have one too but I'm scared to carry it cause I'd just take myself out. Also, I've totally been eyeing those bags for years. This might be a sign I need to get one. Great video Sandi!
You're too funny! I did got some good belly laughs and it felt good. I liked your art bag, very useful and roomy. I also liked your clothes picks, cute. Me, for an artist, I don't like patterns and too much color on my clothes, but you wear them will, and they look really nice on you. Thank you for the laughter and the art haul, it was great!
I am lol at the nightgown story in church and Cooper is ALWAYS a joy when he gets vocal. ! 🤣 He hears you talking and figures it must be that you’re talking to him.. LOL. I save little tins for my urban sketching. Thank you for the info on your haul… stay safe, ( now I’m thinking about your MACE), 😳😉 stay healthy. Virtual hugs from NC..
I cracked up when you said it's too bad the water bottle didn't come in a cute colour! My husband has stopped rolling his eyes when I want stuff in cute colours, but I think he still does on the inside. 😂 This video was so fun, thank you for lots of Saturday morning laughs. I've started my paint sketchbook the other day and everytime I put on a thick layer I think, oh Sandi would love this texture, and, see Sandi loves using lots of paint too. I don't have your patience for thinner layers on top of each other so I just plop on a bunch and go to town with my brush strokes. My doggy says hi to Coop, her name is Beer (bear in Dutch, not the drinking stuff), she wags her tail in the same tiny wag movements too, except hers is long and swishy. 😄
I got my moms old Fjällräven Kranken years ago and its my go to bag for eeeverything, its about 30 years old by now and still going strong and I love it so much, I call it my Mary Poppins bag! Can literally fit everything I want in it 😂
After the pandemic I thought it would be nice to wear my silky pj's to church since I had been wearing them to church for 2 years to watch church on utube. Thought we should have a pajama party when we returned to in person. They where alot more comfortable the "churchy" clothes. Loved your enthusiasm for the art haul. I am with you forgetting if I ordered 1 or 2.
I have one huge complaint! Your videos are NEVER long enough or as frequent as I need! LOL! When I first found you, I indulged myself and binge watched them until I realized that I was not finding many I had not watched. I love watching your finds - but love watching you at work even more! I probably don' need to know about more things! I need to get to using what I own! I do feel the urge to dig out my charcoal and play now!
Another excellent video sweet Sandi! Cooper…you are too cute…making cameos in the videos…sweet boy. Grady…what a wonderful husband! Laughter does the soul and the marriage good!! ❤️
ooh Sandi try an altoid mint container instead of a match box. they are small and metal tins and would be perfect for your charcoal. You rock by the way. I love Jesus too!
I’m a bit adhd crazy. I can’t do lots of pockets and pouches in a bag. So I have a big wide open canvas bag I use. But my favourite art “bag” is a milk crate with wheels added to the base and a rope pull handle. I chuck all my stuff in. I can also add a lid and cushion and then I have an impromptu stool to sit on. Our milk crates in Australia are 30 cm cubed internally.
I know this was months ago but id def put a couple of matches in there. Half the time I jack the first match up or the wind blows it out etc. Or it just goes put before I get anything ignited etc
Oh my yes to the goodwill clothes! I love when I find something so loose but still quite the fashion statement. I get a lot of complements when I wear them. I need to get me some for painting though cause I ruin a lot of my regular clothes all the time. I just got a camping bag at Walmart in that was only $10 and just big enough for my small watercolor plein air stuff and I really like it. I can just grab it and out the door when I want to use it. Keep it packed up for the most part so I can do just that. It is black like yours and very lightweight. Loving it. Thanks as always for your sense of humor. I get so tickled with you when I watch your funnies like the paper spray and the match.
You’re so real…and funny, Sandi. And that’s a good thing 😂 Love your “painting” clothes. I sell vintage ( part-time) so I’m real familiar with Goodwill & other thrift stores….so much fun! And what great bargains! 👍
Sandi I have got to let you know how much I love the way you talk to your nosey neighbour and I love his tail too. I have a really nosey neighbour he's a 🐈 cat he also loves lending me a helping hand or paw 🐾 everytine he can 🤔 all the time. I had some laughs hell yeah! I love these art hauls I too love squishing yeah you heard right watercolour brushes don't tell anyone I'm not ready for retaliatiation on a Friday! Love that painting behind you the big boy you should be sooooo proud 😘
I LOVE YOUR THRIFT HAUL. TOO PRETTY TO MESS UP WITH PAINT, LOL. I ALWAYS LOOK FOR SKIRTS AND DRESSES. WHEN WE GO OUT TOWN I ALWAYS CHECK THE GOODWILLS. LOVE YOUR ART STUFF.
I LOVE the colour of the trousers 🥰 oh Sandi you've made me laugh so much ."I couldn't pull the trigger" with the bag .I've been eyeing the exact same bag up and my trigger finger is still ...well ...excited to see how you get on with it .thank you as always for the joy ♥️
I have two Fjällräven backpack 🎒 and they are really high quality! I’ve had them for years, and they’re still looks awesome 🤩 They’re stylish and sturdy and a great backpack investment!
This is great Sandi! I have stolen your idea of using little bottles for my acrylic inks- they look so cute! I bought a Fjallraven in black a few weeks ago so great minds think alike 😀 thanks for your continued enthusiasm and inspiration 😍
You have to try the Fabriano Rosapina paper or their Unica one. It is expensive but my god it is epic. Works out at approx €3 ish a sheet, huge sheets. Its my holy grail 😍
Love the art haul Sandi!! I tell you I am also enjoying those good will hauls I think I'm going to stop by the goodwill and see where I can find as well.
Cute & informative video, once again sweet Sandi! Have looked thru all the questions to date and didn't see anyone asking you what type of paint you used on that darling computer stand? And while I have your attention, would LOVE to know the color you used for your closet doors and studio walls. Keep doing what your doing, my friend.
I just used acrylic paint - I can’t remember what all I used as far as brands on it but any acrylic will work. And as far as the doors it’s been over 10 years since we painted those and I have no idea the color name - so sorry!
Oh loved the content of this video sure did put a happy smile on my face. Will try to spot you in a new dress in the art room... enjoy the clothes they look fun.
Hi Sandi, The Utrecht medium is great for collage. To help keep the top from sticking, try putting saran wrap on the jar before putting on the lid. Also try wiping the gel off the jar threads before the saran wrap. If you ever want to try heavy body acrylics, they make great artist paints and I would definitely recommend their titanium white. Its very thick but very pigmented.
i also love fjallraven brand. I have their Tote G-1000 bag and it has leather handles and canvas back straps. its a perfect work bag. now i obviously need one for art supplies! ps.. glad im not the only one who buys outsized second hand clothing haha. and i tend to live in the cheapest ones, and my ' good' clothing is left on the shelf.
Great tips on how to get ready for some plain air painting. I would really like to know how you prep to paint on paper. Do you tape it to a piece of cardboard or do you make your own form of canvas board with some gel medium? Do you mostly use paper for when you work in your sketchbooks ??? I am just starting to use sketchbooks. Love Fridays now because I get to watch your enthusiasm and it motivates me!!! Thanks for Making my weekend start on such a postive note!!!
You and Grady and Cooper crack me up. Yes, belly laughs for sure! What kind of paint did you use to decorate your screen holder? Do you mix it with anything to get it to stick?
That bag is just too much fun Sandi! I may have to do one for myself…..just in case. You might want to throw in some insect repellent of your liking. Oh, and baby wipes just in case you get lost in the woods….😁
