Another good one Chris. I'm really liking these BBOB 2 videos. The format is about perfect, with enough time for each knife to show some demo stuff. And, yeah, I hear you about the Macbook Pro, one day.........
Schrade ROCKS... Can't wait to see the s 17 stripped! Axe's ROCK too... much better than beatin your knife with a stick.. lol. Love the BBOBlades Vids...
Hey PM101, just wanted to say that I am not a hunter, bushcrafter, or survivor, but I love knives and I love your videos. Thanks for giving me a lot of good looking knives to add to my collection. Subscribed.
Hudson Bay style knives were designed to process animals first and then handle some heavier camp and woods tasks second. It also served as a bad guy deterrent. Even back then multi purpose tools were needed. Many mountain men would carry these and leave the axe behind.
One thing I have noticed when you feather stick, compared to Andy Tran, is that you don't rotate the wood, or knife, each pass making each feather wider than if you feathered a new edge making it easier. Just an observation, great videos Chris.
Another nice video. Been trying to make the transition from tactical knives to more bushcraft/camp style now that I'm home for good. Thanks for all the good info and reviews.
watching this playlist and hearing your complaint from he haversack video then your dialog in the first seven seconds of this video has got me LMAO your vids are great man keep up the good work LOL!!!!!
That Condor would be amazing for hog hunting and big game hunting. Hopefully it will be available up here in time for moose season for me to try it out!
You have touched upon something mentioned by GideonsTactical, which is in his testing the saber ground Ontario SP-51 chopped better than the flat ground SP-50, so being otherwise identical, the saber grind appears to be more effective.
Just a minor correction: You said you haven't had any problems with Schrade knife steel. However, didn't you have a problem with the tip of a Schrade SCHF3N breaking off?
That improved Scaxe4 looks nice - nice to know they quickly fixed the problem you found. BTW - Is Azwelke still in business? Tried to email him a few times about a sheath, but never a response.
5:08 if you listen close you can hear Becky laughing in the back ground and Jessica ninja crawling to see whats going on BUT ! You have to listen close and share like and subscribe to hear it ! Trust me it's crazy funny it will make your day people . Another great vid Chris !
I don't know Chris...I think wealljuggleknives batoned with that Moonshiner quite well.....could be your batoning skills ;-) just messing with ya. Did they make the blade thicker than your test blade once it came out? cause it seems to baton really well in other vids and also looks really thick. I love the look and the sheath, an awesome dealio for $55-$60.
i'm not sure why anyone would put a flat grind on a big knife... flat grinds are for clean cuts... as in skinning and dressing... and you don't need a big knife for that... not even for a moose... personally i don't like blades bigger than 5 inches, mostly 'cause i ALWAYS carry an axe in the bush. check out Grohmann knives if you get the chance... Canadian made and damn near perfect for me.. they're more heritage styled so i'm guessin' that they might not be your bag though...
Been waiting for an Esee 6 review. I would love to see an Esse 6 vs Tops B.O.B vs Tops Silent Hero. I think the grind makes all the dif but love the coil. Can't wait to hear what you say. Love the video's Chris!
You also cant be Esee's top notch warranty. Unconditional lifetime. They will replace it no questions asked. Even if you are not the original purchaser of the knife.
I know a lot of people who like both Becker and ESEE. And some people say the Becker is a better deal, but really, when you upgrade like some do, the Becker to get the micarta handle and a better sheath, the price is near the same as the ESEE, if not more. I hear about how people complain about the price all the time. But look at the price of knives with Micarta handle AND wood handles on the same model. Like the Condor Bushlore. Wood MSRP - $50. Micarta MSRP - $85. So when people say that it's not worth the cost, you have to consider the Micarta, the fact that they aren't produced in the same quantities that the Beckers/Condors are, etc.
I have always like Schrade, do not care what anyone says, I have a uncle henry that use to be my dads from yrs ago and it still holds up strong, along with my old timer fixed blade that is old as well
I have had the Bk7 for about 9yrs and I like it...but I like the Esee6 alot more...its true the KaBar BK line is the poor little Brother of the Esee line...and its also true Esee is alot better and has the better knives...thats what I think I had the Esee6 for about 1yr..I have the BK2 and the Bk11 I really like the knives but I want to get the Esee4 and the Esee5...I was about to get one of the Two.but I got the Tops Operator 7 and I am happy...as a side not I picked up a Coldsteel Drop Forged Bowi...and was so surprised the handle is small but I put tape on it and it feels great...but what got me was this Bowie knife can go through anything it Stabs like Champion...try it you will like it
I'll be honest, I like schrade, one of my favorite reviewers does a lot of schrade testing, and for the most part, they have been good, affordable tools. But a soft edge on your axe is a bad thing, they are heavy impact tools, so you need a much harder edge. They could have chucked in a 1084 bit at the edge and been perfectly fine, and kept the softer stainless steel body (which you want to better absorb the blow). This isn't really a dig at schrade, just this particular tool.
That poor phone book I hate the kershaw cr steels but shared does it right like tops does 1095 right some companies just have perfected the steel they use period
oh come on man. Last time you mentioned 6 in the first 300 views, 9 is a step up. More haters means you're becoming more popular. the only thing i don;t like on this blade is the top half edge. I got me a Condor hudson bay knife instead.
I can understand knife test to test the durability, especially the the crap knives they come out with now a days, but in reality, a knife is just like any other tool and should not be abuse
