My kids knew me with a (close) beard for years. When I shave it off the first thing my 8 year old said after hiding under his sheets was, "I want my Daddy back!" It really impacted him. A word to the wise, if you have young children let them watch the process. Don't shock them.

I've shaved clean a few times in my life and I gotta say, it's like amputating a body part. RIP beard.

I had a long beard and I had the same reaction as you when I took it off. Immediate remorse. I rock a shorter beard now but part of me wants to grow it back to the glorious beard it once was.

I'm going to assume you've grown it back, but I have to comment and say you look great without facial hair! Nothing unpleasant about it. That said, a beard like you can grow should be shared with humanity.

I remember once when my dad came home after a long business trip with a beard and mustache. My sisters and I didn't recognize him at all, we were whispering to each other that Mom got us a new dad. He asked us to go over to give him a kiss and a hug but we hesitated until my Mom told us that is okay, he is actually our dad. We then did what he asked for and recognized his voice. He was upset when we hesitate therefore the next day he shaved it and never grew a beard or mustache in his life. I still remember this like yesterday.... Is actually more than 45 years ago. Miss you Daddy ❤️

The kids reactions actually are the most important part. It really shows you’re on a spiritual level with your family and not a visual level like society that’s what separates us from everyone else family is everything as long as you’re happy and your family it doesn’t matter what your beard looks like it matters where your hearts at it’s clearly in the right spot my friend this is 11 months old but I just seen it. I’m happy I did. I found a good man a good person a father clearly merry Christmas to you and yours.

I know how you feel, man. Many years ago I decided to see what my two kids would think if I shaved off my mustache... not a full beard, just a mustache, but they had never seen me without it. They were 6 and 2 at the time. The oldest one thought it was hilarious, just cracked up laughing almost literally rolling on the floor. The youngest?... not so much. He starting crying and ran out of the room full speed. Found him in the bedroom trying to hide under the bed, and took an hour to calm him down. Eventually even he could see the humor in it, like his big brother... but there for awhile... nope. 😄

The love for a grown beard you cant describe, but the feeling of it being shaven and feeling fresh is amazing.

You look so much better without the beard. Anyway, I remember when I was five years old, (in 1955) my Dad went hunting and was gone for two weeks and didn't shave. When he walked in the door, I was so excited to see him, but I didn't recognize him and jumped back afraid. It wasn't until after he spoke to me that I recognized him. He never grew a beard again until he died in 1997.

Oh man, reminds me when I shaved my big beard a couple years ago (mine was a little bigger than yours in the video). I haven’t been able to have the patience to grow it back out. I miss it… it’s been a short beard since then. Was thinking of shaving completely for the first time in like 12 years

You start to realize how warm body hair actually keeps us, when you shave off a long beard. I just shaved yesterday after being in the hospital for a long time, went outside and the air just hit different.

I’ve gotten the same reaction from friends that have known me for over a decade that have seen me shave after a few years. It’s such a sudden shift that’s not quite the same as the gradual progression of growing a beard. I think I’ll always prefer having a beard but it’s not so bad having a few months without the hassle.

A lot of people already said it but you don’t look bad without a beard, man. Some people, including myself, legitimately look bad without facial hair. You can rock both.

I started growing out my beard this year and it hurts so bad to see you do this. You had one hell of a healthy looking beard. No women will ever get me to shave it. I keep mine well groomed anyway so no one has ever complained

The shorter beard length (3 months growth) would probably make the Mrs happy too. You should totally do a beard picture with each month’s growth for her to see what you both think of it.
