While driving through Pilanesberg Game Reserve in South Africa, we came across the biggest elephant we had ever seen... just walking down the road. We stopped our land rover and let him walk to us... See what happens!
@@nightlightabcd In USA, they would be much better off, because USA has more wilderness, while the African human population is exploding. The biggest threat to nature is the expansion of land used by humans. I suspect many Westerners have this nature doctumentary created image of Africa as some pristine continent filled with wildlife, but alas, the reality is different. Another problem created by the African overpopulation is poaching. Killing an elephant is economically a very good idea for many poor rural people.
@@AnnaMarianne arent pumas extinct in America? If you said canada I would say sure but africans have always lived in harmony with their wildlife. Americans do not. Y'all murder anything that doesnt fit with your society. And fyi the poaching is done because of the demand from westerners and Asians. Westerners are the only people who do trophy or game hunting like psychopaths.
@@danellymani205 I'm not American. And pumas aren't extinct in America. In fact their territory is expanding. Just like the populations and territories of large carnivores are expanding in Europe. In Africa though they are growing smaller, because the human population is exploding and the humans are taking all the space for themselves, and hunting the animals for bushmeat. That's just how it is in reality, regardles of your ideology and racist hatred, and what you'd want to believe in.
Those children are adorable- so well behaved and genuinely interested in the sights around them. Nice to see children who are like this than the ones constantly glued to their mobile phone.
This video is from 2011, so smartphones were not much common but yeah it's nice to see children who are like this and not on mobile phone all the time 😊
An incredible sight to see. This giant elephant could easily crush the cars in its path but chooses to gracefully walk by with class. Absolutely Beautiful. XO
igloo tropicale And it's the old bulls who keep in line young bulls preventing them from entering in musth and teaching them to act with deferance. Fathers discipline sons
@@timovangalen1589 this isnt accurate old males when in musth will be extremely aggressive this bull was not in musth and wasnt threatned he knew he was the biggest n baddest in the area
Even by just sitting here watching this video, I could feel the power and confidence radiating off that bull elephant, so I could only imagine what it felt like being right there when that magnificent beast walked right past their car.
He knows what he can do so whats d need to do . ha we r insects infront of this majestic so called animals so he will not do any effort to kill insects like us unless we bite him .
@@dirtyharry4649 Some dinosaurs were 10x heavier than the largest African Elephants of today. But your point still stands, unless a heard were stampeding, that would surely shake the ground some.
@@dirtyharry4649 True I loved the tension that it built up for the movie, but anyone who knows anything about ambush hunters (T-Rex almost certainly hunted that way much of the time) would see how being able to stalk in near silence would be essential. Also, the roar, while really well done and impressive, almost certainly sounded nothing like how T-Rex actually vocalized, which in real life would probably have been more of a very low pitch, low volume rumble.
@@dirtyharry4649 my dude a general sized T-rex is about 4 times this elephant's total weight and unlike the elephant, it was bipedal, so the entirety of it's weight while walking is almost always on one foot, an elephant on the other hand, having four legs, making their legs move in an offsetting motor (to counter-weight) so the weight distribution makes it vastly quitter
@@xxCrimsonSpiritxx I don't think so a big bull bush elephant like this can way anywhere from 10 to 11 tons and they stand 4 meters tall at the shoulder that's about 1.5 tons heavier then the biggest T,Rex.
Factually incorrect. Rhinoceros sight is better when detecting movement. All senses in an elephant are akin to super powers. The idea to keep still is not to antagonize the elephant, since it may become irritated with noise and/or movement.
A very huge and gorgeous gentle giant, so pretty and big. Love elephants, truly do. They are majestic creatures so intelligent and family oriented ……very lovely indeed. Thank God for this elephant walking along at his pace. God bless and protect them all from evil poachers, they deserve to live FREELY n their habitas without any human intrusion . 🙏🙏🙏🌹🌹🌹♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘
this reminded me of the Jurassic period when big old Dino's walked our planet :) That moment that beautiful creature passed that car took my breath away
What a beautiful BIG Elephant! He's a King all right! How majestic and confident. A superior being. Love elephants! The world must save them or a magnificent species will be lost.
This proves there is hope in the youth still. These parents are instilling appreciation for the animals in these kids. Good on them and may them and their children live long lives.
The car was still turned on, they openly stated that if need be they would move out of the way. I don't see the issue, yeah the Animal is dangerous, but so is allowing your kids to walk by themselves to school. These kids had probably a better experience right here than 90% of people do in there lives! Listen to the amazement in there voices? Was there risk? Yeah! Was it worth it? Yeah!
Elephants are gentle giants & exceptionally intelligent. If they wanted to smash you into smithereens they can but choose to live alongside us humans in peace & hope we do the same! Beautiful!!
Respect to you and your kids friend, most videos Ive watched, people and their kids are freaking out.. you guys just stayed cool, the kids stayed cool.. respected the animal and everyone left happy!
@@mr.ditkovich6379 You're underselling the size of hippo and rhino wildly. Adult bull African elephant common max weight = 14K lbs Adult bull White rhino common max weight = 5K lbs Adult bull hippo common max weight = 3K lbs
I think elephants are like any other animal. They display certain body language if they are threatened, angry, upset, etc. This guy (the ellie) was absolutely chill. No posturing, trumpeting, ear shaking or charging. As others have commented, he’s so big he knows he won’t be challenged. Why bother with scrawny humans?
Those children are very blessed to be able to have gotten to see that absolutely mammoth elephant walk right in front of them they will be able to tell that story the rest of their life not everybody will be able to say that
That may have been the riskiest moment you will ever experience. For example, if you bet your entire net worth on a risky stock, that would have been way less risky. What if one of you was hurt? Elephants and all wild animals can be extremely unpredictable. A great deal of skill and experience is needed to mitigate the risk of standing off such a magnificent bull. Thank God every day!
I want to know how this guy kept 8 kids in the car absolutely quiet as Jumbo walked within 3 feet of them. That is a very good trick. That elephant was huge. 🦣🦣🦣🦣
❤👊🏻😁 I mean...I would've loved to see this IRL myself too but the fact that all those kids got to see--in real life and in person--up close?? Nothing more perfect!!😁❤👊🏻 That's the coolest! Thanks to the adults chaperoning these future adults!! Pretty cool
Dude how does one risk his children's lives while watching a massive wild elephant walk past your car. Anything could go wrong.. You were irresponsible to take the chance but fortunately you and your children survived it! You lucked out.
Now, THERE'S an animal that has nothing in nature to fear whatsoever. Even the Lion King would bow to this monster, the true Emperor. If only the selfish and obscene profit-gouging humans would have that same respect.
If you see this as big , imagine the prehistoric ancestors of elephants like the paleoxodon, they were nearly 2 to 3 times huge and as tall as a giraffe . If they existed now , it would be like the mumakil in lord of the rings. Thank God we have got it's descendents still big.
no there are forest elephants and bush elephants, two different species. one lives in jungles and the other (above )lives in the savanna. theres also the asian elephant that live in tall grasslands
LMAO!!! The perfect example of parents having the absolute SH*T SCARED OUT OF THEM, but at the same time having to be brave for the kids, as the kids blissfully enjoy the whole thing because the parents aren't freaking out.... Ahhh, sooo good... LOL
Maaan this was one wild cool animal on four legs. I think it knew of the presence of children otherwise it would have flipped em over and spun em out forever and a more. I was impressed!
