I dont know if you have used salt before. But I talked about it here before... i fished for blues with salty bait for years. They come to the salt. All animals will come to a salt block. I know that blues can detect blood and i always thought it was the salt. Flat head are more sonar hunters. A lively blue gill attracts them. I think mabey its pressure waves in the water they sense. October can be cold nites up here in indiana but they still bite good. Pay attention to wind. They bite on west wind.. out of the west is best out of the east is least..
You Never cease to amaze me Dave, All the big fish you catch on a days trip. Hell I would be lucky to catch one of those a year lol. Thank you for the video, enjoyed watching. Good luck and have FUN !
The Struggle is Real 😳 Why the F does Catfish Dave not have that 100K 🤷...He puts in the Time and this sure as hell ain't his 1st video....Come on RU-vid 😡
We always caught and froze river herring in salt. We would catch them as they migrated up from the ocean, freeze them and use them all year. Another great video Dave, Watts bar is definitely on my bucket list.
It seems putting salt with the ice is the way to keep the bait fresh. I think the salt also helps with luring the fish in too! Enjoyed the video thanks very much!
No big cats here in Colorado, ugh! Minnesota gave me plenty of good cats in the 60`s. Good times. Hope you all enjoy your fishin & catch some memories soon.
Looks fun up here in Canada we are closing out for open water moving towards ice fishing. But I catch Goldeye for bait and put them in live into water and lots of water softener salt. Keep ‘em in there or put them in the freezer and they all work well up here
You could have picked Justin up and drag him and baits at the same time. Now if you drag him and his kayak he catches fish, aren't you actually catching the fish. It's kinda like hooking a bluegill and a bigger fish eats the bluegill you're reeling in.
I need some advice. I've been trying to catch some big cats and just can't. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've used multiple different kinds of bait and nothing. I don't even get a nibble. Ive watched many channels with different baits on them and I've tried almost every one of them. The hot dogs the shrimp the chicken the livers the cut bait and nothing. I am so jealous of all you people who can catch these monsters with all this ease. I just want to feel the thrill of pulling one of these bad boys in. Any advice????
@@catfishdave8192 I've fished in Badin Lake NC and where I was at everyone else but me were getting catfish. We were right there all together. I guess I'm trying too hard??
@@kaitlyndawson4042 lay off hot dogs, and shrimp and livers. Fresh shad in cooler waters and try white perch in warm summer waters. Try live blue gill also because Flatheads and Blues will eat that too. Better bait and time in the water will make it happen
@@catfishdave8192 we don't have a lot of shad close to us. But I've tried live brim and nada. I get plenty of bass which I'm not going to complain and turtles. No cats. I can get the babies which are about the size of my middle finger and that's it. I got those with live worms.
I read on Catfish1 a guy said one of his favorite baits was garlic salted chicken livers. Said he uses it everytime he went out. Said he had a double rig with a live bluegill and the salted livers and caught a 52 lb flathead on the liver! It didn't even go for the gill. And shrimp is a great bait, I buy mine fresh from an Asian fish store and get whole head on shrimp and shell and cut into 3 pieces, but if you're going for bigger fish you could halve or use a whole shrimp. I freeze what I don't use and after using out of the freezer I salt and store for later use. It works well to catch bluegills also for bait. Good luck! Edit: oh yeah, I'll turn you onto a secret bait additive. Get some MSG/monosodium glutamate and sprinkle a little on your baits. It's a proven feeding stimulant for fish. I use Accent
I enjoyed the video enjoyed watching you catch those big it has been a while since I have seen any of the videos that you have I've been doing a little bit of fishing with a buddy of mine on the lake here we do a little bit different we do the but to me whatever bites that's what I catch
That Catfish looks like he's had a hard life. Maybe due for a stay at the Catfish Spa. Get fed well without harassment from anglers, and massaged by women.
