Don't overthink it. Do what you want to do and you will enjoy it more which in turn will attract more viewers. The geartube/review stuff is a trap for both the content creator/artist and the audience. The tutorials only interest the people owning that particular set of gear. The music is only for the people that like that kind of music. Essentially you got a bunch of different audiences in one. And while its one with a lot of overlap in interests, it will still be impossible to please everyone. I own a bunch of the same gear and I fuck with industrial shit so you can't rly do wrong in my case lol. My point is , do what you enjoy and let the numerical aspect(views, growth, profit etc) of youtube be an afterthought. You seem to care a lot about the community aspect and what your viewers think. If you rly wanna put your feelers out to see what would work best, it might be worth setting up a community discord or something like that. All the best.
Just ranting and being honest. I don’t really overthink YT or play the algorithm game. I don’t really care. I do have some experience I can speak lightly on the topic which might help others in this space. At least that was my thinking on touching on those topics. In terms of industrial stuff and the gear you’re definitely going to be happy the next few months. Thank you for the support and taking the time to check out the content.
Do what you like at the end of the day you should have good feeling and be happy with what you are doing, whatever it is! I hope ofcourse you will produce some amazing music! Godspeed Todd!
And here I thought you’d say you bought two 4-tier Jaspers A-frame keyboard racks so you can drag your Ensoniq keyboards out of the closet! Lol. Someone in the comments already said it quite well; don’t overthink things do what makes you happy and the results will be evident in your videos.
A stand is going to be one of my main investments at point this year. Thanks man , I definitely just do my thing and don’t really play the algorithm game at all. Hope you have a great day and stay safe
The subscription economy inevitably steers you away from authenticity as the drug of the chase kicks in. Be an artist. Be excellent at being you. And if one person subscribes to you, rather than news about something or someone else, then that's called success. You might lose some subscribers, but you will be doing music, which is the goddamn point.
I don't play that game. I do wish I made a little less gear talk content in terms of how the algy works but at the same time I ain't losing sleep over it or changing my path. I do like to be honest with my road and share my experience (good/bad) so maybe it can help others. I do agree with that you said overall. Hope you have a safe and creative weekend
It would be interesting how mr. Smith would do that, as he seems to be using hardware-stuff. My (really bad) industrial ambient stuff is 80% DAW and softsynths, 20% hardware synths. So the things I do in my DAW is very programmed, and the Hardware stuff is me playing some notes that I think fit.
I’ll definitely do some stuff in that field for sure. Thanks for the support and taking the time to check out the content. Hope you’re having a great day !
