Excellent! Great video and great upgrades. (1) Keep your old lines. Place them in a mesh laundry bag and wash them in a washing machine with a final rinse using fabric softener. You will be surprised at how well they come out with all stiffness gone. (2) Surprised you did not put an eye splice in the double braid for the main traveler sheet in lieu of a bowline. (3) The double eight knot is the preferred knot for attachment to a climbing harness, followed by a double bowline knot. One clear advantage of the double eight knot is that it can easily be verified that it is tied correctly. Bowlines can be tied wrongly but to the untrained eye can look correct -but can slip. (4) Missed seeing a safety line when you went aloft. Please always climb with a safety line with a Prusik or other fall arresting hardware. The owner of East Coast rigging in Herring Bay had an interesting story of going aloft and the entire winch drum which was being used broke loose. "Falling" by Brion Toss is a fun read by a master rigger. If you're still in Fernandina Marina take a walk north to Wicked Bao - a fun restaurant for some great Asian fusion food.

Hi there & thank you!!! To answer your awesome question/thoughts: 1) we had previously done the washing/soaking of the main Halyard and it was still that stiff! So we decided to replace it. Unfortunately we tossed all our old lines but we still have a ton of replacements we want to do soon, so we'll just keep those! (They're in better condition anyway) 2) we considered it but the original that we replaced didn't, so we didn't. 🤷‍♂️ 3) that's a great tip! Definitely going to do that on our next trip up the mast!!! 4) we most definitely had a safety line. Normally going up the mast the topping lift would have been the safety and the main would be the hoist but since that was plainly impossible in this case we used one of our Spinnaker halyards. Although they didn't go all the way to the mast head it was the best option available to us at the time. But after using that topping lift, guess which line is due for replacement next?!?!? Wicked Bao is definitely on our list to try. Unfortunately they don't allow the puppers so it'll have to be a date night!

Thank you! I've been looking forward to going up the mast ever since we bought the boat and it's so much higher than I realized. 😆

Little mini teach-ins…..like! But from where did you get all of your new goodies? No coffee, snacks, or lunch? 🤗

Ain't nobody got time for that! 🤣🤣🤣 But, for real, working on getting more of that cooking content integrated. We got the lines from Rope.com (great customer service) and anchor bridals from Mantus!
