Major changes for the SkyMiles program for Delta Airlines. Jared from Thrifty Traveler joins Jason to break it all down. He also shares some current flight deals from several cities across the country.
As a Delta lover, I'm definitely not going to be chasing a status with them now because as someone who only takes about two vacations a year, it's completely unattainable. I considered getting one of their cards too, but now that's off the table. Real shame.
There's no loyalty, and it can go both ways. After 20+ years of having a Delta AmEx, I'm canceling next year. I'll get a card thar gives me cash back, use the miles I have on Delta, and call it a day!
Its MQD, is 18k for platinum meaning basically 18k in plane tickets and hotels. This is going to send DELTA into bankruptcy AGAIN!!!!! I have both AMEXA AND PLATINUM STATUS. And this aint worth it. My mqds were under 2k.
As a Delta Skymilage member with a Delta credit card and a person that's constantly flying; I think one of the reasons they are doing this is because the lounges have become so overcrowded! It became too easy to enter the lounge that those that really deserve it can't even enjoy it... Multiple times I was either denied entry because it was too full or being inside to "relax" was worst than just being outside the lounge. The lounge experience isn't the same anymore as when it first started.
You can change those policies without destroying the entire loyalty program not even Diamond gets in nowadays.. you know what’s funny? My delta diamond status has way more value with its skyteam and core alliance partners. If I show my diamond status in a LATAM or KLM lounge they are like pls sir of course come on in..
@@johensville I’m sure it’s better but I don’t fly international as often as I fly domestic. I’ve only booked delta for international flights but operated by Virgin Atlantic.
I was Platinum and now I'm Silver.......and I fly 6-8 times a month. All I care about is Boarding first. I don't really care about the SkyClub and Comfort+ upgrades, literally, put you next to the Toilets. Oh, BTW, I have 1.6M Skymiles.....I definitely care about that, especially this close to retirement.
I fly(not Delta)and I've never cared about lounges from any airline, idgaf. I need to get through pre-check,find my gate, find a seat, something to while away the time and be on time for the flight. People worried about their status too much, just get your privileged-to-even-afford-to-fly-in-any-class butts to the gate on time so we all can go.😂
I kinda AGREE wholeheartedly! Honestly, I've never used the Amex lounge or considered it, (and I have an AMEX). For me, I don't enjoy airports, so I've never thought about "how to make it more enjoyable." I do fly first class sometimes, but I'd rather relax and enjoy while flying, so I'll pay for that perk. The lounges, I don't care. Perhaps if I was stuck in a city maybe I'd care, but then I'd book a hotel lol.
Am I the only one who actually likes this change? I’m a new business owner and I personally would really like being able to purchase about 1 or 2 fully refundable business class tickets to get top tier status and not have to worry about it for the rest of the year, maybe for at least a year to a year and a half.
No need to analyze too much. They fucked us up. There’s no way I retain my Diamond status beyond 2025. They basically went from everyone having status (this was actually a problem with sky priority lanes and sky clubs just as crowded as main) to no one being able to make it beyond silver unless you’re flying only Delta One and internationally several times a year. Come on.. and it’s the best US airline but it’s a low cost compared to Emirates or Singapore. They made so much money this year that they liked it too much
I'm looking forward to being able to upgrade because I don't have a job that flies me all over the world every week, giving me (at no cost) super status and priority over all other people. Plus fewer entitled people in the lounges constantly complaining that they need more vodka in their drinks. Thank you Delta.
