I shaved everything completely off after learning of the passing of my two younger cousins after Hurricane Dorian. I did it to mourn my cousins and also because I needed a fresh start with my hair. It was liberating and I could feel the breeze on my scalp! It felt wonderful! I found out i had a little dent in the middle of my head towards the back. And naturally, it made me look older which was the only thing i really didn't like. I'm 8 months post shave now. Will I shave again? No. But, I'm happy that I did.
tangerine melody My condolences to you and your family. When I initially considered cutting my hair, it was as a result of my grandmother’s passing. I kept thinking about how much time I missed with her on days I was home having to style my hair... I finally cut my hair after over a year of pondering and I am glad I did simply because I of the time I save every day. I’m happy to hear that you have started your healthy hair journey. Now you also know what you like vs what hairstyles you love.
@@laolualuko9417 Do you like the way you look with your hair pulled back in a low bun? Looking at yourself head on in the mirror with your hair pulled back away from your face may give you a good idea of how you may look if you big chopped your hair. Also, short hair wigs will allow you to see yourself with short hair before you cut your hair. You can also start with a medium hair cut such as a bob or gradually trim your hair over time instead of a big chop so your haircut is less extreme. Ultimately, you should do what you really want to do with your hair. Don’t worry about what people think about YOUR hair, do what you feel most peace about.
You are so gorgeous, your smile and bone structure are just...🤌🏾. I did a similar big chop (of about 18 inches) last June and it really is SO freeing. It was a more spontaneous thing (unlike your carefully weighed decision) and I did freak out at first but very quickly grew to embrace and love it. I honestly think the big chop is something every woman should experience in her lifetime. Cheers to you and your hair journey 🤗!
I was a straight hair natural for years until I accepted the fact that the heat was damaging my hair. Now I barely put a flat iron to it and it is in it’s glory being curly. Now after 3 yrs of wearing it mostly curly I ❤️❤️❤️❤️ my curls and can’t imagine it being straight . Welcome to the new you👍🏼
Kelsey T I did wash n go’s for about 5 months straight (hoping my coils would bounce back) before I big chopped. My fro looked limp and wouldn’t last beyond 2 or 3 days so I ended wearing a ponytail and redoing it every few days which is super time consuming so I just cut off. It’s so much easier now. Btw, you have gorgeous curls, giving up the flat irons has really allowed your hair to stay nice and full!!!
@@LoriLoveTV I’m have the clippers in my Amazon cart. As soon as work travel slows down, I’m taking these braids out and ✂️✂️✂️ I would cut the braids out but I don’t want to deal with the permanent parts
@@rashondadani I have videos on the Pros & Cons of the big chop if you wanna watch those before you cut it all off too. Otherwise, if you’re 100% ready and you already to bought your clipper, welcome to cut life!!! It’s so liberating 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I know that this video is 2 years old but I love that cut on you!! It fits your face!! You've got the face for short hair girl!! Great job to the barber!! I love it!! I recently cut all mine off too becuz of breakage and damage. But I do not regrey doing it at all!! Thank you for the inspiration and stay positive ..
Thank you so much and I am so glad you don’t regret your cut. Not only will your hair grow back fuller and healthier but you also get to enjoy the versatility and freedom that comes with the big chop💖✨😊🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
This was such a beautiful video to watch! ❤ I'm watching it and getting ready to head to the barbershop myself. I'm excited and I've been thinking about this for some time now and know that this is going to be the best decision for me.
Love your new cut. You are stunning. Thank you for sharing. It made me brave to cut my hair. I just cut my locs after 7 years. I have never gone this short. I was scared sitting in the barber’s chair. It went extremely well. I love my new look.
I'm in the same boat!! I just got my hair cut in a short style yesterday but the next day i couldn't get it like the beautician had it! It's so frustrating!! Now i wanna cut it ALL off!! Freedom!!!
You look Beautiful!! I absolutely love it! I just came home from the salon I did the big chop and I'm already in love with it! I had just as much hair as you did but it was so stressful to deal with, wash days were a disaster and just overall too much. I just wanted it all gone. Just subscribed!☺💜
Thank youuu. I am so glad you love your big chop. I know the struggle of long natural hair-wash days took forever, my styles didn’t last that long unless it was a protective style so I became completely dependent upon “natural hair stylists” for blowouts but I was never truly happy. I was completely over it when I finally big chopped. Now I have six months of new growth for the first time in two years. I would definitely big chop all over again; no regrets! I hope you enjoy your big chop journey as much as I’ve been enjoying mine. Thank you so much for subscribing🤗🌸💖
Love it did my second big chop in 10 years a month ago and I was indecisive if I wanted my natural texture or if I wanted to texturize it.. for now natural and a good thing who would have none we would be dealing with a pandemic. Love the videos thanks for sharing.
Danielle Miles Welcome back to the cut life😊. Letting your natural texture shine through is perfect in these Coronavirus streets... Last thing we need is to be stuck with 2 different textures not knowing when we can get our next touchup, LOL! That was my biggest struggle when I transitioned from relaxed to natural years ago. The big chop for a healthy hair journey makes life so much easier🙌🏾
Lori Love indeed just finding the right products is another story but me and you have the same texture hair so I will definitely go back to the eco styler gel at times and olive oil or vitamin E for a sealer.
@PSALMSOFSONGS Unless you have split ends which only gets worse if you don’t cut them you don’t have to big chop to get rid of damaged hair. You can transition over time instead of big chopping!!! I had heat damage for at least a year before I decided to big chop. During that time it wasn’t too much shedding, actually appeared “healthy“ when it was straightened and my fro still had some volume. I just knew my hair was damaged so I big chopped. If it is not detrimental to your hair, just slowly trim the damaged hair over time until you eventually reach your goal of fully healthy, undamaged hair. In the meantime, you can continue to enjoy your fro. Best wishes 💗
Thank you so much!!!! This style has made my life so much easier 😊 I do have more footage of the cut but I didn’t wanna make the video too long so I only posted the highlights! I can share more footage of the cut in another video, stay tuned.
I like it girl you look beautiful you know it's in the raw it's it's basic wonderful beautiful you don't have to put in so much effort and yeah before you know it give it to weeks and would have grown out of the style that the Barbie just cut you in I'm thinking about cutting my mind off just cuz I don't want to take care of it anymore it takes too much out of me to do it so I'm just going to cut it all off give me a boy style and be comfortable with it you look exhilarated you definitely looked free and then as it grows in you can decide what if you want to keep it at or if you want to change it and and maintain it short where you can pig use the washcloth to to brush it laugh out loud but no no in all seriousness you look beautiful and you don't even need makeup but if you decide to put makeup that'll just enhance it and if you decide to wear accessories earrings or whatever just enhance it and if you don't you rocking that you got this you got this girl you go ahead and my sister.
Thank you so much, Betty ♥ Over the past 3 years, I've tried various haircuts, colors, and styles. I've thoroughly enjoyed the journey. I just recently big chopped again to maintain my TWA. Short hair makes my life so much easier. Did you also big chop? How is it going for you?
