This year i fished so late for first time. I wish the lakes didn't freeze in the winter. I don't mind fishing in the cold, as long as its above freezing.. I just hate ice fishing. Just not my thing
Looks like those are your go too baits. I cleaned 5 crappie today and I always dicect them to see what they're eating so I can know how to fish for them. Well let me tell you buddy the guts were full of 1in worms brown and clear in color🤔. Thats why I came to this video to make sense of it all. Nice job man🎣🤙🏾
My guess is they've been picking them off the weedbeds close to bottom. The lake was only 9ft max and all fish were caught in about 4ft of water 2ft under the surface. Bobby garland ittybitty swimmer 1.25 did the trick. I want those small worms you use to give em a try. Maybe I'll order a few packs.
Love tiny lures on cheburaska bottom jigs. How about the scent of the Nikko lures? Do they have more bites compared with the Cultiva lures? I use Fish Up lures. Thanks for sharing.
They have different action. Very different. Most of the time i prefer Cultiva because they have more meat. But when it is really cold, i like the long tail of these nikko worms. Both cultiva and nikko are scented, but have subtle scent, not strong
@@ifishcatfish .. Hello Victor, i am from the Netherlands and i love perch and zander angling with UL rods and reels. I was searching for the Cultiva and Nikko lures but they are not available here. I have more bites with scented lures. The smallest scented lures from Keitech are great to fish. 🎣🤝
if there is wind and ripples, i do little to no jigging. As for the jigs, i am releasing a video today on the best jigs for this bait.. please wait until lunch : )
Hi victor, I just saw in your video where you compared the size 2000 Vanford to the size 2500 you said that the size 2500 did not have the roughness. I love fishing lures such as Bobby garlands with a 1/32 oz jig head for panfish and bass( these heads are around 1 gram). I also love to use 3 inch yum dingers. I will use 10 lb braid to a 6 lb leader. I would put it on a 6’6 ml rod or a 7 foot medium Which one would you recommend for rod and reel? Thanks :)
2500 for sure. If you want a 2000 size reel you can save your money and buy a Legalis or Excelller or Regal LT or even Sahara if you can find a low gear ratio. The cheap Sahara is a much smoother reel than the 2000 size Vanford, but a little heavier. The problem with sahara is that low gear ratio can be found only out of USA. But i got mine on ebay and was not too bad, and that reel is 100% smooth because it doesn't have those idle oscillation gears
@@ifishcatfish Thank you for the information. I normally get the Shimano Sienna or Lews American Hero, so the Vanford will be a real treat. I might also get the Sahara. The technologies of the Vanford have caught my attention. Another question, what rod length, power and action do you recommend?
Great video the crappies there are getting bigger this year!!! last year they seem to be all 8inchers or that's all I caught anyway nice catch Victor and your on my spot !!! Lol just kidding Happy new year to you and family!!
they are all right in the middle of the lake right now : ) I got some great image showing stacks of 1000 crappie around a single tree. Mega schools. I hope we dont get good ice this year because crappie get schooled very tight in the winter and a good ice fisherman can just destroy them. WHen it's warm they move around and u can't do so much damage from one spot..
if i know the lake is clean i take home a few slabs for my wife. I don't eat much fish and my kids so far don't eat fish at all. I do release almost all of my fish.
Hey Victor, I just recently found the channel and you make some great content. I’m looking to get a new ultralight set up and was wondering if you can give me some suggestions. I’d like to spend around $200 total for rod and reel and would like to fish with jigs and small crank baits for panfish, trout, and that can handle bass and walleye. Thanks!
Everyone's preferences are unique. Also everyone's access to product is unique. A lot of my favorite products are out of stock. You can watch my playlist with rod review and playlist with reel reviews and pick something that you like and ALSO is not out of stock. I used to give people suggestions, then they reply back to me 'BUT this is out of stock', then i suggest something else and they say 'Is that better than the other one' and you go in this back and forth forever. I am not doing this any more.
I see that everyone uses that. To be blunt, i think that's just ridiculous and i will never even try it. I am not interested whether or not it works - it's just ridiculous. I am not putting that crap on every cast, just to make my lure look unnatural. That's exactly the same thing as the catfish folks get a piece of cut shad, that is already the perfect catfish bait, and then spray it with these sprays that smell like strawberry, for 'extra attraction'. This is shad - it doesn't need 'extra attraction'. I have beautiful and natural looking worms, I'm not putting that crap on my hooks : )
@@ifishcatfish it is stupid adding scent to a shad but that pretty worm doesn't have scent or look pretty in muddy water. In mud, I think they feed on vibration 1st, visual 2nd (something they can see in mud) and scent 3rd in importance. I catch crappie in water so dirty your jig disappears an inch under the surface. I've never really tested it myself. My main target species is largemouth, then cats then crappie. This time of year I'm after cats and crappie.
I prefer to have my baits scented out of the package. But if they don't, i am not dealing with nibbles. It leave residue under your nails and you put it all over your rod. Also the worm now looks like it has a tumor or something. It doesn't look natural and that bothers me. If they don't come scented out of the box, i fish them like that. These worms DO have scent though, even though very subtle. The Cultiva worms also have scent, also very subtle. But trout magnets have no scent and i catch crappie with them like that just fine
At first, I didn't realize that you were float fishing. Was wondering why you were not winding in more line to "land" the fish. Looks like you had a good day fishing.
@@ifishcatfish lol, it is a problem with watching videos on the phone with aging eyes. I know that you are not the fool. I appreciate your knowledge and humor.
@@VincentKearney1967 i saw that. I inow it will be a good reel but look at the weight. Heavy like a rock. 225 gram for 1000 size and 250 gram for 2500 size. And only 3 bearings. Legalis has full set of bearings and same gears and is full ounce lighter. Maybe for catfish or carp, but for ultralight u can get legalis for same money so i cant recommend it
@@ifishcatfish you are right didn’t realize it , also if not a bother do you know any good travel rods you can recommend. Thank you again Victor for taking your time to reply to my questions . Have a Happy New Year !
never fished so late in the year before (besides perch). I am starting to warm-up to cold-water fishing.. I actually got bigger crappie than i did in May during the spawn.
1.9" . Tecnically they are longer than the 1.7" Cultiva Micro Worms, but they seem smaller, because they have no body and this super long tail. That tail though... when u do float fishing... it's always moving..
i had a long reply and this question went away for a few days (There is a place in youtube studio for unanswered questions). Then all of a sudden the question pops up again as unanswered! But what happened with my answer? RU-vid just deletes sht and doesn't tell u nothing.
@@ifishcatfish no, worries. I can wait. BTW is this you entering the frame at 4:35 here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wOF2b01jRLw.html RU-vid keeps me in the loop on all perch fishing videos in your area while deleting your comments )
