You can use a carpet needle to pull line through 3/4 inch of a worm body above your bait to see it better but not add weight.

This is genius and I'm going to start doing this Don! I'm pinning your comment so everybody can see it that may have a similar need! Such a good idea for how to add something to help you locate your jig on the screen without having much extra weight - especially right now while the fish are all so shallow! Thank you Don!

Thank you Joe! I'm here in West Monroe also and Darbonne is always my pick for a guaranteed good fishing trip! The fish are starting to move back out in the timber or mid-depth brush piles now. Also some of the deeper water docks have been holding crappie. Good luck out there!

Before I did not know how to recognize the bait falling to the strike zone. By you using the golden color grid square as a pointer , I can now follow the bait drop into the strike zone . Very helpful, Thanks

Hey Otis, so glad to heard that the highlighting helped! On the boat I can give my pole a twitch and look for movement to refocus my eyes on the jig, but I have a heck of a time seeing it without the highlights on a video!

Why don't you adjust your depth on your screen? It let's you see more when the screen is expanded. For example, if I'm fishing in 10 of water, I adjust my depth to 13. Great video. We still need to get together and fish.
@HighQualityFishingVideos
@HighQualityFishingVideos Год назад
Hey LaYardDog!! I do change it more often when I'm fishing without the camera, but when I have the recordings going I've figured out it helps to leave it set at a specific range/depth to keep a help make it easier to gauge the size of the fish. I honestly would have set it at 15 ft on this day if I'd known that I was going to stay in the shallower water but was expecting to have to get closer to the channel to find them. Was not the case though! We'll hit them up soon, I found some great new spots in the big boat last week!

How do u keep your old boat in one spot to get those good shots
@HighQualityFishingVideos
@HighQualityFishingVideos Год назад
Hey Richard! One of the first things I do when I get on the water is adjust the "Boat Scale" option on my Terrova trolling motor. If it's a windy day I bump it up a bit so the trolling motor engages faster and with more force. If there's no wind I turn it way down. Helps a ton with keeping the boat exactly where you want it.

What boat ramp ? 😅
@HighQualityFishingVideos
@HighQualityFishingVideos Год назад
hahaha, Tommy this is right by Stowe Creek! Definitely no secret about the whole area there being a great springtime spot because there's a boat every 50 yards out by those cypress trees. I generally like to go off and fish less pressured spots so I spent some time floating around and finally figured out the depth most were holding at.

Thanks so much for the kind words M! I really appreciate it! I'm actually gearing up right now to go fish for some catfish and gar! The river has been really really high but now back down to a good level to go out. Hopefully I'll find a day with decent weather soon and have a video up showing some big stuff!

Went to Darbonne today jigging, fish would run up to my bait, then swim away. I think I may try casting next time, seems like it works for you!
@HighQualityFishingVideos
@HighQualityFishingVideos Год назад
Hey GG, I have definitely had more luck staying 15-20ft away from targets and casting to them. Some days they don't seem to mind me being right on top of them though and those are some fun days! If they do that follow/turn thing a lot I will usually change jig sizes or shapes until I find one they will hit. I've got six combinations that I can usually cycle through until I find what they want to bite that day. Had two days in a row on Darbonne last year where they went crazy for a normal 2 inch plastic with a 1/16oz pink head, then the next day they wouldn't touch it. Had to size down to a 1.5 inch with a 1/32oz head to get the bite. I don't understand what happens in a 24 hour period to make every fish in the area decide to stop eating one thing and start to eat something different all at once but it's wild!

Yes indeed! And they do make some crazy noise under water! I go scuba diving and spearfishing up in Arkansas most years. One year I swimming around the shallow water in early summer looking for catfish and heard what sounded like a BIG bullfrog - but underwater. It was a bit murky so couldn't see it until I got right on top of it and it wound up being a big drum....sounded JUST like a giant bullfrog!

Thanks so much Ron! It's so great to hear such kind words from another fisherman! You will have a blast if you come up and fish Darbonne. The fish are just now getting into more of a post-spawn pattern but close enough to bed areas to find pretty quick. Been seeing them in 8-16ft on or around brush. Not nearly as many on timber (at least that I've seen) on my last few trips. For boat ramps. they are all pretty busy this time of year since it's kind of the overlap between good-fishing and pleasure-boating seasons but you can usually find a spot or two and everybody's friendly. Rarely see anybody in a rush up here unless a tournament weekend is happening. If the ramps are full there are lesser used ramps near the spillway (one south and another north) that are a bit further but generally have plenty of parking. I don't really have a favorite area to fish on Lake Darbonne, I just look for a spot without boats nearby and start fishing. The fish are all over the lake! That said, the western part of the lake has more of the pleasure crafts and eastern part tends to be the fishing side. But you can fish all over it for sure! If you come up let me know how you do! Good Luck Ron!

@@HighQualityFishingVideos THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY!!! @@ronf1805 Yeah that new regulation on the 7-fish 12-inches is kind of odd in that it'll have you cheering when you catch the smaller fish since you get to keep those hahaha! Yes please do send me an email or message on here when you guys come up and I might can ride over one day to say hey and share whatever jig has been getting bit for me!

@HighQualityFishingVideos Год назад
WHOA, 19 inches is a monster! I've got friends up in New Hampshire and they they have some good PBs also but constantly tell me how lucky we are to have so many big fish. They were saying their usual "big fish" size in the best lakes is closer to 11 inches. And that even those were not common. Could just be a lot more pressure on the fish or smaller lakes though as I've never traveled up there to see for myself.

@@HighQualityFishingVideos I dig it bud, yeah we're pretty spoiled here in Mn. I literally have 20+ lakes within 10 miles of my driveway so I can usually find quality fish if I do a little scouting. Good times and tight lines my friend.
