I've finally... FINALLY been able to get my mitts on one of these. I've been searching for a Patriot for a long time and thankfully due to my very good friend Mr Baz Covill I've finally got the opportunity to test one!
But is it any good? Well....let's find out!

I have, in storage with my father back in N. Ireland, a .22 Webly Patriot. It is an FAC air rifle rated at 32ft/lb. It broke 2 stocks, snapped 8 forward mounting screws and shook the crosshairs out of 4 scopes in the first 10 years. Absolutely no regrets. None whatsoever. Still love it.

Thanks Brendan! They're fantastic aren't they? Many say that Weihrauch were the kings of the 80's till now but the more I shoot the older Webleys (and modern Cometa's) the less I'm agreeing with them. My Eclipse and Exocet would put up an amazing fight against any HW.

I own a beeman Kodiak 25 caliber air rifle the same Rifle as your patriot with a beeman ss22 japan optics 4x short scope and I love it ! Purchased it years ago in the late eighties from 10 ring air rifle shop now out of business and still can’t believe it is still accurate and original with no modifications ! It is a sledgehammer at pest game up to 50 yards ! Will never sell it ! Mine still works and looks like new !

Very agree. An enormous and thoroughly solid construction. You are certainly one of the lucky ones to have a genuine, thoroughbred Patriot, made in England. The copies that are made in Turkey now are not even half as good quality!

I have one and its super accurate , it is violent to fire though and has broken the trigger and the safety in my use, finish is superb, mine is .22 and weighs a ton compared to any other air rifle I've seen, its also massive! the trigger is really controllable and easily adjusted although the use of puter or pot metal for the trigger and safety have let this gun down, other than that and the glued on barrel weight moderator attachment, they are very nice indeed and I don't regret having it.

@bigdansairguns83 Год назад
Hi Iwan! There's nothing wrong with the old Patriot. It shoots very very well once you learn not to treat it like a sub 12 rifle. It'll buck a bit if you artillery hold it but with a firm hold it's a fast recoil but you can practically keep the target in view during the recoil cycle.. not bad for a 27ft-lbs springer!!

I love the old Webleys. I fancied the Omega back in the 80's but bought a Weirhauch 77 instead & loved it. I did get to shoot an Omega though & it was lovely . That Patriot though is a bloody sledge hammer & I'd love to spend an hour or two smashing things with it. Lol.
@bigdansairguns83

To be fair Derek with how it's made you could literally smash things with the Webley, no pellets required. The HW77 is an amazing rifle no doubt about it. The uncle's Zephyr tuned rifle shoots like an absolute dream. That said I'd love to shoot that Omega too.

Had a Brum made Stingray .22,it had snapped at the pistol grip,it was in the £50 quid rfd bin as it was carbine I bought it. Couldnt hit a thing on the range felt like the spring had snapped really low recoil. Put 2 opposing wood screws in it and it started to perform at 10m,took the stock off to perform spring surgery and it had a gas ram in it. Put it ovee the chrono an it was on 11.9 ftlb with jsb heavy 18g 11.6 with 16g and it was as accurate as the ultra I had at the time. Beautiful finish,better than the weihrauch and I think the trigger was equal. That Patriot though what a beast,great review

Oooooofda, what a hammer. Perhaps it is a great option for a back door pester (to easily handle many critters known for raiding the trash). .25 in a magnum springer seems like a fun option, and I'm looking forward to taking delivery of the .25 fenix 400 I recently ordered. I have a .22 currently that gets 15-16 ft pounds (at 5,000 foot elevation, which I believe knocks off 15%-20% vs sea level). So I am expecting maybe 16-18 ft/lbs in .25 and hopefully a nice, smooth, accurate shooter. I'm glad you mainly stick with the springers, they are definitely not going out of style anytime soon. Cheers
@bigdansairguns83
@bigdansairguns83 Год назад
Hey Mguffan! It's a cannon is what it is, a really accurate cannon admittedly but if you put wheels on it you could use it as a howitzer! Just kidding. That Fenix will be a cracking rifle don't worry about that. Just bear in mind the triggers out of the box can be a little creepy on the second stage, having a play with the adjustment screw behind the trigger will tune that right out of it.

Hi Heath! That's my thought process, a common "complaint" about the Patriot is that it's too nose heavy and heavy in general. Your not wrong about quality on the webleys i have the omega carbine 177 Sandwell tuned its my favourite gun i have . over engineered that's why the word is they lost money on every airgun that went through the factory door. That could be true probably why they have gone bloody shame

As you said you would like a 12ft/lb Patriot, they existed and are around, the Omega. I have owned both, but swapped the Patriot for a Theoben Eliminator as the build quality is equal plus the power is easily adjustable to suit conditions .

Hey Thomas! Modern Webleys are made in Turkey I believe. I haven't shot one but I'd love to have a go at a modern Patriot or Stingray.

How mutch this unit sir .?
@alarmactionukalarmactionuk893
Foot/pound not 'feet/pound'. You are getting muzzle velocity confused with kinetic energy. Actually the rifle didn't sound too twangy but these were known to respond well to wee bit of judicious tuning or even gas piston conversion.

The automatic safety would be so much better if it wasn't automatic.....like a BSA
