Detectives Bill Finger and Bob Kane are hot on the heels of Dilfred McCracken as he wraps up hosting duties on Stephen King's "BIG DRIVER." King roots this novella firmly in the tradition of Rape Revenge Cinema, and Dilf takes us through the long and complicated history of how this fraught subgenre went from fringe outcast to respected mainstream. Along the way he speaks with Intimacy Coordinator Deven MacNair about the difficulties of filming rape scenes and the potential harmful effects they can have on the actors, filmmakers, and audience.

I appreciate the effort you put into this part of the story about Big Driver. Interweaving the history of these types of films, Stephen Kings' foray into the genre in the context of the films of these kinds, and the usage of intimacy coordinators is some compelling stuff. I love this series. Keep it up!

Rape revenge movies have long been a favourite of mine. From Ms 45 to Big Driver and The Seasoning House, its a fun and very cathartic genre, for survivors and non survivors alike.

Certainly one of the heavier topics we'll tackle for awhile, but it would've been irresponsible to gloss right over it, and things like this need to be discussed so we can collectively work on improving them. Glad that you found it thought-provoking!

It's a shame Bertolucci traumatised an actress that way, because he later directed a movie called Little Buddha, a film where Keanu Reeves plays a legendary religious figure whose teachings are very anti sexual violence. I know because I read a Buddhist meditation book at the library where sitting still is only the beginning of what Siddhartha was laying down.

It's tough, because you wish you could separate the artistic accomplishments from the man, because Bertolucci made some incredible films during his lifetime, but he crossed the line with Last Tango, and condoning that kind of behavior from filmmakers is not okay, which is why people like Deven MacNair are SO important
