Does anyone else get déjà vu from MCM lately? Videos like this with the guys from the skid factory and the hole concept of a H6 in a Subaru wagon take me years back.
I've learned more about engines/building cars from The Skid Factory than any other channel, Al is incredibly knowledgable and the dry tone of the show makes for a great watch
The fact that you guys did an STI swap just to show the world it can be done, knowing that you were going to H6 swap it all along, earns you a place in automotive legendrydom 😉
I'm so glad you are doing this swap. I have a landspeed car build on the drawing board and it will be powered with this engine. You've pointed me in all the right directions for what bits I'm gonna need when the time comes to put it together.
You guys has helped me stay above surface for almost 12 years.. every time i feel i cant do it anymore you guys show up and give me an automotive virtual hug.. And i truly cant thank you enough, Cant wait for T&T III ! 💚
This is so epic!! I miss the intercooler tune and the angelical intro for Turbo Yoda... but man, having Turbo Yoda and his Skid Factory apprentice, the good ol' Mechanical Stig and these 2, this is going to be epic, even a greater ride than Supergramps (which btw is one damn cool SW already). This Levorg went from Leboring to Levright to Levraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaappp stututututu... I'm wonder what's next for this awesome one of a kind car...
4 minutes in and that manifold is looking incredible. I couldn't even wait to the end to mention it! 😂 these boys have come such a long way and built such an amazing group of friends to contribute to their projects. cant deny though I'd love to see an old school driveway how to just for the nostalgia
loving the weld talk, keeping it simple and explaining to people who don't know but also not insulting in anyway to those who do know. just like everything MCM does
Al is such a whizzard! Makes me warm and fuzzy inside, growing middleaged together with all these guys after all this years of pure joy and automotive blast! Thank you guys, honest!
You know what Moog...some of us are alone at xmas due to where we live away from family etc. To hear you release something on xmas day brings some joy...looking forward to it!
No I wouldn't say that people that follow there channel or know him. Know he's the yoga! I think there channle is a little unknown off and that's about it but it also makes it more of a gem to watch like great music which no one knows off!!
The boys are home!! And by home, I mean, Home is where the heart is, and there was a lot of heart, and love in that room!!! Old Skool MCM vibes! Also, how comfortable is Al in front of the camera now compared to when he was last in an MCM video. Great work chaps!
Man I’m ashamed that I haven’t kept up on your channel for so long, I’m a huge fan from way back! I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. Great content as always, much love from Texas!
Brilliant last couple of episodes, great to see Benny and Al again, I could watch Al's welding all day and good to see you spending time with your mates.
I can’t wait to see the finished power numbers on this build. Love that you swapped over to the H6. That’s what’s in my outback, and for sure that’s a solid motor
gotta be honest, thought the V12 and 2JZ thing was someone bullshitting and pretending they know shit on the internet. But you actually did it, I'm impressed but I think you might also want some sort of therapy 'cause I can't imagine fitting those things in a bay like this
Don't forget to fit a Brake Master Cylinder Brace Kit to this car! Subaru WRXs are notorious for their spongey brake pedal - but it's not the brakes themselves, it's the flexing firewall when you start gouging on the brake pedal! All the car needs for a Porsche-like brake pedal is a brace to stop the brake master cylinder moving. To prove you need one, get in the driver's seat and press the brake pedal HARD. If the firewall flexes and the back of the cylinder moves, then your pedal feels soggy. Best upgrade ever for a WRX - and I mean that very seriously - I drive a 911, a 928, and a Tommy kaira M20b/WRX. :)
the fab work is so cool! also glad you highlighted the tedious nature of having to continually put things on and take them off. i do remember in my youth sticking with a half baked solution as I was done with taking things on and off. good to keep in mind that it's needed if you want a job well done.
How does turbo yoda still look as young as he did in the first episode that he was on? Is it because he's the baron of boost that the turbo gods give him infinite life? He's like everyone's favorite uncle that is always there to help you go fast.
Awesome to see all the boys together again 🤗 can't wait for the finished results! Fun fact Al had worked on my bugeye back in the day unknown to me, and that thing was an animal for what it was-sooo stout.
Why must you post this JUST as I'm getting to work?? Lol Look forward to watching this thru my breaks tonight during my shift!! Cheers from probably your longest subscriber in NY USA! You guys are the absolute LEGENDS..is it just me or do I feel we are way overdue for a "Disrespected Cheryl" episode 🤣🤣
Christmas and december in general is personally the lowest and toughest time of the year. T and T 3 is the only thing i have worth looking forward to. Thank you for all you do. Much Appreciated guys. 😁
I did food grade stainless TIG for a few years! I also worked in a muffler shop for a while too, doing diesel trucks mostly. I love watching Turbo Yoda doing pipe fitting, such a master!
Al's come a long way when it comes to being in RU-vid videos =) He's obviously been a legend for a long time when it comes to turbo-fying the world, but it's so awesome seeing him relaxed and in his element explaining things to camera. He was always awesome and hilarious on camera of course, it's just that in the beginning it was awesome and hilarious in a clunky grumpy/shy taking-the-piss kind of way but over time morphing perfectly into confident, relaxed and natural but still hilarious and sharp/grumpy =D
The quality of this series is absolutely massive and you have help from people who are fantastic at their craft. This is going to be one special vehicle.
Man, I REALLY wish that I had Al's fabrication skills. I built a turbo kit for my 2004 Acura TL six speed manual and it was an absolute PAIN! I was working with hardly any room and ALL of the hoses and wiring had to be wrapped and sheathed with heat wrap. The engine in my car doesn't have standard exhaust manifolds, they are cast into the heads, so I had to buy the 4 bolt flanges and fabricate it from there. I also custom fabricated the merge pipe with a T3 flange, 2.5" v-bands on each inlet pipe, and a 44mm external wastegate flange. I built it all out of stainless pipe and I built the 3" stainless downpipe out of mostly pie cuts due to there being no room behind the driver side headlight. It was ALOT of work for 5-8 psi of boost.
An alternative to purging is "solar flux". You mix this paste up with alcohol and then wipe it on the back of the weld. The alcohol evaporates and leaves the powder which protects the weld from the atmosphere. It works great and is a lot cheaper than argon 😅. Note, it also cant be used for food grade piping after welding the leftover kinda ceramic glaze is not food safe.
Hands down the best build series you guys have put together. Great group of pros! Really shows the manpower, patience, and the measuring tape that it takes to makes it possible.
SuperGramps, was the OG build that bought me to the MCM world. And now here we are full circle, with yet another Subaru Wagon. Thanks again for awesome content in 2022, to you and your families, Merry Xmas and looking forward to the New Year 😍😍
If your not subbed to all these guys your missing out on so much internet goodness. I wish you guys could do these colabs more. good lads, know there shit. make good watching and listening(moog). keep being amazing guys! merry cribo
Guys, i do not know who is making the color grading for your vids, but lately I have noticed they pop so good, its like watching 8K HDR videos! Even on my old bad screen. Kudos to the guy!
I just mention this because I love Al and want him to live a long and healthy life. He needs to wear a certified mask when he welds stainless steel. Tig welding SS gives off hexavalent chromium; which is very toxin and poisonous. He probably knows this and doesn't wear it for the video and puts one on to finish the job when the camera is turned off. The only reason to include it in the video is there are tons of would be builders watching that don't know about H. Chromium. I personally have told quite a few people about it that had no idea. Cheers from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
So nostalgic to see you all in a workshop together again😊 that being said I’m slightly disappointed in the lack of Intercooler harp playing by moog, what a missed opportunity 😂😂
I always wondered if turning the inlet manifold around is any usefull to gain space for the turbo and have the throttlebody in the front. Love seeing you guys back together. Brings back a lot of memories. Geetings from Germany :)
