Jimmy: "You can't fall out with everyone, Mel!" Sarah, laughing awkwardly: "Yes she can!.." This is probably my favorite line in context from Big Fat Quiz EVER. XD
I still prefer to watch this one with her in, even though I hate her, as the other video with her edited out, took away like 20 mins of the show. Everyone in the comment praise the uploader for just simply editing her out of all of Micky's shots, but he didn't just do that, he took away many of his and others shots as well just to simplify things (as soon as someone talked to her, that was taken away too, like Ayoade's funny banana thingy and much much more). So a lot of talk and funny stuff is missing from all guests, that's not missing in this video. "worth it", some might say. I still wanna see it all.
I feel SOOOOOO bad for Mickey. He is a genuinely big hearted, talented comedian and he got a shit teammate. I'm so glad everyone just kind of stopped putting up with it. Sort of a vindication for him. And Jimmy is enough of an asshole that he called it out right away!
@@erictim9052 At first I found her absolutely intolerable, but rewatching this know I agree. She's maybe a little (a lot) tone def, but it's totally fine.
I’ve watched this a few times, and i always have the same feeling. I think Mel B was actually going for “humorously bitchy”, but just didn’t quite land it.
I dont think she was going for humour at all. She was genuinely disgusted more than a few times through the night. She seems extremely uptight and snobby
I know its been said a thousand times in these comments but I really don't like her here. I can't speak for her on anywhere/thing else she's known for but I've seen this episode a few times and she really doesn't seem to want to join in the fun, nor let anyone else have any. I know it's several years old but "I'm so confused, why is he eating a banana?" just got to me. Is that a trick question?
@@ChaosDave2 haha if it helps I’m 45 and don’t know a single Black Sabbath lyric, song or album 😊 Glad we’re all here to help each other cover our blind spots 😆 Happy new year!
Idk what was up with Mel B, if she was having a bad day or just a different sense of humor, but everyone adapted really well to her. This is one of my favorite episodes to watch, thanks for uploading!
@@lavrentivs9891 I actually think she was fun. She certainly decided after a bit to just roll with the oddness. I mean she was "Scary" spice not Miss Congeniality!
I saw the comments of this episode on another channel and they made it seem like she was really unpalatable so I skipped it. This comment section is much nicer so I decided to give it a go, and I'm glad I didn't find her repulsive all. I've seen her a bit so I know she's always had a bitchy persona, this much is exactly what I expected from her. What matters is how people around her react and I applaud Micky for handling her well.
@@de-fume I think it was mostly a persona she was playing. Clearly there was still chemistry between her, Micky, Jimmy, Sarah. I'm sure there was more that was edited down that might have been less "contrary", but conflict makes for good TV. :)
I love seeing Jon Snow dance that badly compared to later years. It means he probably practiced his dance skills, and I like to think he did it purely because of the small segment twice a year for these quizzes.
Currently using this as background noise and when Mel said "why is he eating a banana" at 7:37 I was eating the last bites of my banana. I love coincidences like this!
I have to assume that most of these Mel B comments were made within the first 15-20 minutes of watching the video, she starts out awful and annoying but honestly I think everyone figures out how to deal with her (namely Jimmy, Mickey, and Richard) and she realizes where she is and tones it down a bit pretty early on. Saying skip this episode altogether is crazy to me, there’s so many great moments, I think it’s on par with any other episode once you get past the first round or so.
I mean c'mon did u jst think that God wud give you a pair of two nerds with some absolute mean sense of humour and another pair of thick accented people who can make you laugh in jst a few syllables and not take anything away from you. Tbf i love goth detectives but that kinda energy could've destroyed this entire fun . This episode was one of a kind. Absolutely loved it😘😘
Mel B had no idea what she was getting into. She was like I'm funny on a group of people that aren't funny in sure I'll be fine on a show that typically has comedians being unrestrained among fellow comedians (which is when they are at their best imo)
Mel B looks like the type of person that says a joke that doesn't land well, and immediately responds to whatever comment comes after with "That wasn't funny" as she turns her back on you at least once a day
Some context to the Japanese politician. In the culture it's very important to show huge amounts of remorse and castigate yourself publicly should your misdeeds be exposed. Even if what you've been doing is known by others, you're only needed to do it if you've brought shame, embarrassment, or trouble upon your employer. It was the same for the girl from the pop group AKB-48 when she uploaded a video of herself shaving her head after she was exposed as having a boyfriend, something the members are not supposed to have even though it's pretty common for them to be in secret relationships. Japan's an interesting culture, I can't wait to move back to my own country though.
Having lived here quite a while and seen a number of public apologies, I agree that they are expected to clearly show the level of their remorse (genuine or otherwise). However my impression has always been that they're expected to do it in a much more controlled manner, through the words they use and especially their body language, consisting of deep bowing or even kneeling on the floor. I think most Japanese people, especially those in positions of authority, would find it almost unimaginable to wail and cry and lose control like that, even in front of their family or closest friends. The fact that that guy did it at a public news conference is pretty good evidence that he was in the midst of an emotional breakdown...
Fel. We have many great comedians. Such a show would probably cost to much to have our best on it. Where as UKEs comedians are more affordable , less spread out and granted, a bit more witty for such a show. Skål🍻
It works that Mel B is this way Is actually a great program compared with more recent episodes. This show success is based on the characters and not the trivia
I don't have a problem with Mel B on this one because Corden could have been in the seat : P Also how could you keep up with a group of top tier comedians? It's like trying to fit in on a basketball court with NBA players.
Amen. And I found her contrariness to be kinda funny. She lost her mask later in the quiz. I've seen her on other stuff and yes, she's a bit of a diva, but like you said, Cordon has been more attention-seeking than her.
Was that the one and only time they had Mel B on? I love this show (only seen a few so far) and it was just as good with the others' reactions to her comments and attitude tbh.
Mel 🅱️, 5️⃣ minutes in, came to show the world: 🗣️ *I’m difficult to work with and if you think I’m the kind of person who enjoys laughing at things, you’ll have to run it by my manager beforehand because my contract* _clearly states_ *I’m….* Jimmy: 👤💭 I don’t care if it is still considered the Holidays… _Whoever it was that asked her to be on this show_ *is getting fired❗️*
The fact that this show has been edited to digitally remove Mel B(wonder what the B stands for) by someone on the internet is proof enough of how f irritating she is 😂
I'm aware I'm clearly in the minority, but I don't think Mel B was as horrible as she is made out to be. Quite a bit of time, she's smiling and seems to be having fun. I wonder if she just has a different delivery of humor than the rest. Besides, every BFQ needs the seemingly humorless one (David Walliams, for example...)
I have no idea if that's a thing, all I know here is she was in Spice Girls? As some weird Canadian who's watched far too many hours of this quiz content on YT, she has done just fine!
@@jacobgruhn4837 I love some of her expressions toward Mickey Flanigan and Jimmy Carr. It's like she wants to pretend she's "not impressed" but then she laughs.
I agree! I think she does have a different kind of humor and tbf the comedians were kind of bugging her - and I think she took it well! It seems like she got more comfortable with them as time went by.
The fact that they're adding laugh track is painfully obvious in retrospect. The after first send volume so suddenly it fades away so suddenly it's obviously a laugh try added in post and they should have just left it out
I think of Sean Locke every time I see the kids. They were shite! I miss his humor. Why is Mel on this show? Was there a quota of celebrity they had to hit? Sarah, Richard, Kevin and David carry everything, no need for her grumpy cat impression
