That's the cleanest I've seen out of the two recent swells with the possible exception of footage of Black's from last week. These commenters criticizing the wave quality or the surfing in this video are talking out of their arses. The big open faces look excellent and the surfers are getting some great rides.
Can any (experienced) surfer paddle out here ? Like from SD or OC? Or does he have to be part of the bay boys ? Just curious if it’s eased up a bit . Used to hear about it a lot obviously in the late 90s and 2000s
Those old kooky geriatrics are riding around in their Rascals and Priuses still waving their fists but there's nothing they can do about it anymore. I just laugh at them if they try to say anything. It's good to call the local law enforcement right before you walk down and tell them there is people in the parking lot messing with cars. That way they drive-thru there and scare the old men back to their handicap accessible Mansions their mommy left them
It’s a free country. I’m a large mammal requiring a large territory. Lunada is within striking distance for me so definitely on the menu. Yes, it has eased up especially since their clubhouse was torn down. That gang turf mentality was emboldened when they had a little stronghold on the point. Bottom line, if you don’t like stink eye and getting hazed then best not to venture there. It’s a rat pack mentality so if they wanna start dropping in on people etc. there’s not a lot you can do. 100% you will feel an unpleasant vibe. But a bomb deep water bowl wave can certainly help ease the suffering.
@Mark Rosenquist it's not even close compared to the spots 15 min south.. and there was a huge uproar with the reporter chick a couple years ago and now it's overblown with guys that have no business being out there
because they wanted to catch a lot of those perfect waves. the current there is sick. the wave is xtra thick. if you go with a shorter board you risk not getting outside, and if you do, you need to sit inside the main ledge and take the sets on your head, not really an option on that day.
That's the ironic downside to localism - it prevents outside competition from 'forcing up' the game of the local crew. Some places - like say "V-Land" - it doesn't suppress the talent and growth of the local surf community. They surf with world-class talent at other breaks, nearby...and some of the locals establishing the lines and performance standards are world class - like Mason Ho. But I'm not sure I'd say that the same is true for Lunada.
Has beens, never wases with attitude. Break the cycle. What if local parks were localized like this? “Hey, I’ve been on the monkey bars here for decades. Paid my dues. And it took years before they would even think of allowing me to go on the slide. You wanna drink out of OUR fountain? Forget about it pal. Locals only. Go play somewhere else.” Bullies SUCK!!! And that’s all it is pure and simple. Bullying disguised as some elite privileged justifiable action.
Great job. Subscribed. Thanks. I'm curious to know what the waves look like a little south (Portuguese Bend,Abalone Cove,BA and KG below Trump golf course). 🏄♂️ 🌊 surf bop dip dip.
