Big Surf Waves Return to LA Lunada Bay, CA 

Looks like the locals are getting heavier and losing their hair and surf like fossils with riggo!

I went out last year when the swell was really good and the waves were about 6-8 foot, keep in mind I’m a 15 year old, as I was paddle I h out I got bad mouthed by pretty much everyone in the line up, telling me to go back to Venice or Manhattan. They even told me I wasn’t aloud to surf the outside (where the good waves break) and that I was only aloud to surf the inside because I need to “earn my spot outside” ok fine, I don’t want to argue I just want to surf. So I stayed there in the inside for about 2-3 hours and fought some absolute beauties. Moral of the story, no matter how intimidating it is to paddle out and catch at the end of the day it will be worth it. And while I was walking back up , I actually got some head nods from some locals, who would’ve know I would be walking out of there with some sort of respect…

I’d like to see what the locals would say to Slater if he was out there. I grew up there surfing but never tried this place because of intimidation even as a local:-) I’m good though had a great time every where else plus wasn’t on this level anyway.

The first thing I thought of were the Lunada Bay Boys keeping non-Lunada Bay residents out. I wonder what happened to them?
