Big Match Highlights - Q.P.R Vs. Man Utd., 11.05.1985 - Presented by Brian Moore. At the very end of the clip there is a mention of the Bradford City fire diaster which happened earlier that day.
Proper football. I prefer the game back then over today’s nonsense, all day long. Yes I know we had hooliganism etc but it was so much easier to attend a game and the atmosphere was so much better. No VAR rubbish either!!
@@melvynslote457 cheers mate. Same here tbh. I’ll check the results and watch the odd game on television but it’s not the game I grew up watching and was obsessed with. I mean you can’t even celebrate your team scoring a goal anymore because your player might have his toenail offside. VAR will kill the game I think. It’s certainly killing any spontaneity in the game. It’s like the Spurs European game the other week. They must have been in dreamland after scoring a last minute winner, yet it’s chalked off a minute afterwards for an offside decision that was pathetic.
@@mrkipling2201 A pal of mine at work from Nigeria was lauding how football has moved on from the 'thug' days. He has a point, but he has no concept of how football was about where you were from back in the day. Going to a game was cheap and easy - now it isn't. VAR will kill the game unless gender politics does it first to all pro sport. Blatter was a rogue, but he refused tech getting involved for as long as he could. He was right about that. Some proper players on show here though. Robson must have been injured. The 80s were full of trouble. But it really was a golden era to attend football in the UK.
The information about this edition of The Big Match suggests that it actually included the Yorkshire TV footage of the Bradford fire, which would have been a very bold decision if it did.
Almost nonchalant reporting of hooliganism, but hey, it's England in the mid-1980s. Normal fare. I am so glad he mentioned Bradford City, but I think two weeks later, it was the Heysel disaster.
we watched the big match 1970s game of this fixture yesterday on TV didn't we?2-2?that was a brilliant match?1977?sir Stanley rous?the rous trophy?president of qpr?
QPRs awful plastic pitch which has led to today's hybrid grass/plastic pitch & equally as awful. Pitches should show some wear & being totally natural & it gives the gamegrounds a variety rather than boring uniformity.
