Did you guys also realize that you used the worst character from that 70 show to use right now? Danny Masterson!!!! I mean this was literally posted six days ago, he’s on trial for the “R” word y’all, smh🤦🏻
I'm Filipino, and we're very big on Corned Beef, and not the Hash. We saute it with minced garlic and chopped onions until it's crispy, reddish brown and serve it on top of steamed white rice. This is my favorite comfort food. ♥️😋
For canned corned beef hash, all that you need to know is fry it in its own grease in a cast iron skillet until it starts getting crispy, and then dump a couple eggs on top, fried, over medium, and top it all off with yellow mustard. Makes a great supper for a hungry bachelor coming home after a day’s work.
I love mustard on corned beef hash! One of my fav things to do with it is take some rye toast, a slightly runny poached or fried egg, some cheese, and ketchup. Yum!
i like to chill the can of hash, remove the solidified hash from the can and cut it into one inch slices. cook in a cast iron pan over medium heat for 15-20 minutes until the bottom is very crisp, then flip once and cook for another 15-20 minutes until the other side is crisp.
When I was a kid I always looked forward to visiting a certain aunt because she made these super corned beef tacos. Fixed them just like regular ones except substituted corned beef for ground beef or carne asada. I still make them to this day.
In my 58 years I have never tried corned beef hash. So one day I decided to try it. I was really surprised that it tasted better than I thought. Now I stocked up.
There is a restaurant here called Frank’s. When the wife and I go there for breakfast, I always get a side of corned beef hash. It’s the best. I love corned beef, and a Rueben sandwich is one of my favorites.
I have always loved the stuff and have tons of ways to cook it. I like both, the corned beef, and corned beef hash. I think my favorite thing to do is make omelets with it, diced tomatoes and bell pepper, chives on top and pepper jack cheese in the middle with a scoop of sour cream placed on top.
I make it as a stew. Puertorican. Onions , bell pepper, cut up potato, green olive, oregano, garlic, salt, pepper, tomato paste and just let it go for about 30 minutes and put over white rice
@@seanbrown9048 i knew a guy from Brazil and every morning for breakfast he would have a can of corn beef with toast one fried egg and a cup of black coffee (it was like thick almost the constancy of syrup) then after he would cap it with his morning cigar, he was around 82yrs.. he would start his day like 5am at the farm and have breakfast around 9am-10am and he has been doing that since the age of 16yr... i'm not saying to go out and eat a can of corn beef every morning BUT we've been wrong with many MANY things before for example the cooking oils that we used (thats now proven to cause heart disease)
@@dunhillsupramk3 Yeah, well George Burns lived to the ripe old age of 100 yrs. He died of complications from a slip and fall incident during his 98th year. This, despite having smoked cigars (as many as 4/day) since the age of 16. To wit, I wouldn't use anecdotal stories from the lives of Burns, Brazil Man, etc. as quasi justification for reckless life practices.
@@siddiqahmad5193 i wouldn't say corn beef is a reckless habit... look at it this way with data we can look back at when they started to sell cheap cooking oils and even before that we have data of when ppl was still using animal fats and butter/ purified butters to cook with, when you look at the data you'll see a clear relation between obesity, cancer and the main killer heart disease since we started to use cooking oils.. the thing i'm upset over is that these cheap cooking oils was marketed as being the health choice (when it wasn't) and when heart disease became more common they doubled down and blamed animal fats and butters then for yrs if not decades it was widely acceptable to say that these oils was healthy as if it was a fact (when in fact it was these oils that was causing cancers and heart diseases).. animal fats and butters is way more healthy than these oils (and there is more flavor)
@@dunhillsupramk3 I agree with you 100%. Every cell in your body is made with cholesterol. The high incidences of Alzheimer's and dementia correlate with the demonization of animal fats. (Not to mention the aluminum that's in everything especially the antiperspirant.)
I really enjoy asking for scrambled eggs with onions over corned beef when I am at a good diner!! I like a mildish hot sauce like Frank's Red Hot over everything with it!!
Corned beef hash and a couple of eggs over easy, is perfection on a plate. I do mine on a Blackstone griddle, takes no more than 10 minutes. The corned beef is crispy on the outside and cooked through, but not dry on the inside.🤤🤤🤤
For canned corned beef hash, we brown it in a skillet like ground beef with several dashes of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce and serve with runny eggs and toast. We don’t eat it often, but it’s one of my favorite weekend breakfasts.
Corned beef hash straight out the can spread on some bread with mayo is pretty tasty as is. I agree with others corned beef and corned beef hash are 2 completely different things...
In Puerto Rico it is very popular. We make it with Sofrito of course chopped onions tomatoes sauce , water and let it stew for a bit then we fry up some chopped up potatoes and add them on top of the corn beef on top of white rice.
Best corned beef hash is diced up already cooked brisket with equal amount of diced up already boiled potatoes. Way better than anything canned. For a little variety try corned lamb, usually available in East Indian or Sri Lankan grocery stores. Comes in big round can like Ox & Palm/Heinz Aussie corned beef.
Corned beef, cabbage, onions, garlic and hot sauce. If for breakfast put an egg on top. Just checked I am down to 6 cans. Going to store today will get more. Don't want to run out. Good video.
It's been years since i've purchased tinned corned beef and today i went to the store to get some so i could make corned beef hash. And blimey, has it always been expensive! I couldn't believe how much a small time was (UK). Had to give it a miss as i needed 3 tins and was silly money.
Sometimes all you need to do is slap a can into a pan and fry it for a while, put on a plate and black pepper it heavily and decide if you want to just eat it that way or put some kind of medium pepper sauce on it for flavor and some dashes of Tabasco for the heat.
canned corned beef/hash different, but with hash here's my recipe: grab a large pan, spread it thin, fry it till it's just a lil crispy, turn the heat on low, clear a small area, add a couple eggs, cover it and cook till the eggs done how you like them, plate it up and you gucci
When I cook z full blown corned beef dinner I always make 4 or 5 extra corned beef briskets; then I have plenty on hand in the freezer. If you've never made hash from cooked brisket, you've never really had corned beef hash.
Stop It! Just put your canned Corned Beef Hash in a pan and fry it up until it's a little crispy and maybe add some eggs, onions, potatoes to it. If you are worried about your health/calories/sodium: Don't eat too much of it! Corned Beef Hash is NOT a "health food", but it is delicious! Eat in moderation like everything else that will kill you, which is basically everything...LOL!
My breakfast of champions is a can of Hormel Corned Beef hash, an egg and a good handful of shredded cheddar. Let my empty Foodi cast iron skillet heat up for around 2 minutes, then cook the corned beef in the skillet for five minutes. I carefully flip and cook an additional 5 minutes, then I stir up the hash, make a hole in the center and crack an egg and let the egg cook for 3 minutes covered, I stir and then dump and stir in the cheddar cheese. Delicious. I use to just nuke a can and then put an egg and nuke some more and then dump the cheese, but it's way too soggy doing it this way (but edible; lol). Sometimes it takes time to get a delicious result and the time is well worth it. :)
Crispy Corned Beef(Palm) over pan... add some toasted garlic and onions to garnish... side of egg and fried rice... and some soy sauce+vinegar+sugar+red chilli(birds eye)+ chopped garlic and chopped red onions on the side 👌
Is she talking about canned corned beef which is depicted most or canned cornedbeef hash which has the addition of potatoes? They are not the same thing.
I grew up on corned beef hash and rice. I loved it when my stepfather made corned beef hash for me and my little brother. Hmmm.....I'm putting that on my shopping list.
Hash or not, when we are busy we mix the beef with 2 rinsed cans of mixed veg. Then we put it in a deep oven safe dish, spread instant or left over mashed potatoes on top, top the potatoes with cheese. Oven at 400 for up to an hour. When the sides are bubbling and the cheese is almost to brown its done. The kids and husband love it. I hate it. Never had any left overs. Cheap and easy.
Try corned beef hash tacos. Add some dried pico de gallo. It's a powder found in the Mexican food section. Use sparingly it's hot( picoso ). Add shells and lettuce.
I have not had canned corned beef, but I love the canned corned beef hash. If you have some patience, it is easy to do. It is similar to Swedish Pittipana, served with pickled beets and fried eggs. Great video, as usual has some interesting information and ideas too, even for those who wouldn't think of trying this strange delight otherwise.
Corned beef hash with fried eggs and buttered toast is still my favorite breakfast. If you want to try the tinned corned beef, make it with cabbage! It’s so much easier than soaking the salt out of a corned brisket and cooking that just right. I know the purists will scream, but canned makes the best corned beef and cabbage!
I am a simple man with simple tastes. I get a frying pan going with a good splash of olive oil coating the middle of the pan. Throw in a little less than a 1/4 stick of butter. Then I fry the hell out of it until both sides are cooked and one side has a crunchy crust. Eat with ketchup or Newman's mango salsa medium. That's some good basic eats.
Fat and cholesterol from eggs is good for your health. Back in the 50's and 60's people thought fat, eggs, butter, cheese were bad for your health. These days that has been proved to be wrong. I lowered my cholesterol from 440 to 169 by eating a lot of eggs, bacon, butter, and fat. Millions of others have done the same thing.
Dump the can straight into a skillet, fry until hot; push to one side and into the corned beef hash grease crack six eggs, scramble, sprinkle with black pepper and serve with buttered toast.
The only way I’ve ever had eaten corn beef is the way my mom and Granny fixed it is in a big stock pot with cabbage, onions, carrots, potatoes served with cornbread it’s so good on the cold winter days
If you render off the fat, can you save the fat for use later? Would this be considered the same thing as beef tallow (the stuff that McDonald's used to fry its french fries in)?
I have made beef tallow by getting beef bones from Whole Foods, putting them on a soft boil with water to cover, placing them in a bowl and refrigerating the covered bowl. The fatty essence of the beef bones is the 'tallow' and it can make a great broth. I've never tried it for frying. but it has been good in soups. Because Corned Beef has some spices or other ingredients besides beef, i do not think that using the fat from the canned corned beef would be the same as tallow. I'm no expert though - just my opinion and what I've experienced.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh kay. Going to run out and buy an air fryer for our corned beef (and hash). NOT. BUT? BUT? If I had one? Looks like the route to take. RIGHT? THANKS for this. How would we have known otherwise! Credits to those making this vid possible. TY
I go to a local restaurant breakfast for their Irish skillet. Hash brown potatoes toppled with corned beef hash, melted cheddar cheese and topped with fried eggs, with a side of rye toast.
idk about the corned beef, but my mom used the canned corn beef hash often for quick (and cheap) dinners for our family - mom/dad/4 kids. right out of tht can, it's pretty unremarkable - in fact, it's disturbingly resembles dog food 😬 but her method of prep was pretty delicious. Chill the unopened can of hash for about an hour. She would open both ends of the can and slide it out. ( chilling makes this easy) she'd slice the "loaf" of hash into patties and gently flatten with a spatula. This video says don't use grease ..ignore that tip, and brush a generous amount of Crisco oil on bottom of cast iron pan. Heat the oiled pan till very hot, even slightly smoking, than place patties in the pan and don't touch. Let the patties fry for about 4-5 minutes than flip. The darker and crispier the better. she'd usually make mashed potatoes or home fries in the same pan. She fixed them the same way whether for breakfast or lunch, they are delicious mashed into grits and eggs. I haven't had cbhash in a while. But thinking about my mom's ...I'm getting a craving! I know there's always a can somewhere on the pantry shelf. Bon Appetit! 😊
Having grown up with a Great Grandmother from Ireland, the best thing to go with with canned Corned Beef is Tums, or Pepcid, or Mylanta, or a GI physician.
corned beef buns; corned beef, sour, cream mixed with dry onion soup mix, spread on buns, place face up on tray and heat in broiler until golden. make extra yummie by adding cheese
My suggestion. Read the ingredients on label. Most is composed of offal and scraps of otherwise unusable pieces and tongues, hearts, but it is technically beef. They are not lying. It is. Only your perception make you believe that it is muscle derived minced. Good marketing has made millions from scraps.
Yup. If you think canned corned beef (bully beef to Brits) is from brisket , think again. But the Aussie or New Zealand round cans definitely are better meat than what's in the brick shaped cans with a key opener that come from Brazil or Argentina.
In the Philippines, some entrepreneurs used shredded chicken meat to make canned corned beefs. They simply added the appropriate amount of food coloring and beef flavorings.
One of my favorite meals that I eat often is "Larry's foul weather hash". Fry potatoes, add onion and garlic, toss in the corned beef, and some frozen peas. As the recession deepens we will need simple, tasty meals in order to make it through.
That's what I was thinking. But I've never actually had it before. But I regularly order things for my friend & I ordered some for him in a Walmart delivery. Wasn't delivered. Ordered by shipping. Was delivered to the laundry room & disappeared. So I got it refunded again & tried again.
Rinsing corned beef hash and then adding oil to something that has plenty of fat to begin with is asinine. The fat that comes out of it washes away enough of the sodium. As for corned beef, slice it straight out of the can and make sandwiches. My favorite is on untoasted Roman Meal bread with mayo. Great summer sandwich
I like to drink a few slugs of bourbon with each bite of corned beef. It brings in the Irish in me and makes it taste better. I usually throw out what is in the can of corned beef if I run out of bourbon first. Erin Go Bragh!
Good morning everyone enjoy the video we use a lot of canned corned beef in Alaska everything can it lasts the longest I grew up on canned corned beef hash that my mom used to make we ate a lot of it in 64 after the big earthquake and tidal wave
Not all canned corned beef is the same quality . Some of it is does indeed resemble dog food, and tastes like a sludge of salty fat. but some brands have actually have good texture and flavor, with chunks of meat and packed with less fat and salt. I served in the Peace Corps in Samoa where canned corned beef is a staple food. And there is definitely a few brands of corned beef that are actually decent. Well that WAS 20 years ago, so this may have changed...
I forgot why the heck I started watching thus vid! Corned before gas is good. However you cook it, cool! Learning new ways to use it is great. Love me some spam too! Guess fat boy will be good to go in future...lol
