Today we’re cooking up a classic corned beef hash recipe. You can mix your own leftover corned beef or use canned corned beef with diced potato and onion to create this hearty breakfast dish. I keep the seasoning simple with just a little pepper, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce, so this dish doesn’t require many ingredients. For more tips on using canned corned beef, check out www.myfoodchannel.com/corned-b...

Ingredients for a Corned Beef Hash Recipe
12 oz CANNED CORNED BEEF
2 med POTATOES
1 Lg ONION
2-3 Tbsp WORCESTERSHIRE
1 tsp PAPRIKA
1 tsp CARAWAY SEEDS (optional)
OIL for the skillet
SALT and PEPPER to taste
...add a little fresh or dried HOT PEPPER if desired
How to make Corned Beef Hash
Heat oil in a skillet on medium heat.
I like to slice and sear my corned beef in the skillet while I prep the other ingredients for this dish. Corned beef in the can is already cooked, but that sear adds even more flavor to the recipe.
Remove seared beef from the skillet and set aside.
Add in diced potatoes. Cut potatoes uniformly, slightly smaller than a game die. You can skin the potatoes if you like, but why? It’s easier not to skin the potatoes, and the skin is good, so think about it, dude. Sauté potatoes for about five minutes. Give the dish an occasional stir, but not too much.
Mix in the chopped onion, and continue sautéing another 5 minutes.
Add in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper and cook for another 5 minutes.
Shred corned beef into the skillet and mix well. Raise the skillet temperature to medium high and continue cooking 5-10 minutes more, or until the dish is done to your liking.

A little hint for your can of corned beef is to keep it refrigerated, then it slides out of the tin easy, cuts easy, and cooks real easy, try it sometime.

Fyi: it did not slide out easily, even with puncturing that carb in it. But I made some paddies and they still vroke apart. My advice, just suffer through the pain of a slow cook and stop lokking for short cuts, the end result is worth it. This hack simply took more time to prepare but reminded me of the fact there are no short cuts to good food. Thank you regardless. I cooked hormel from a cylindrical can.

canned corned beef is salty!---I generally don't add additional salt to dishes where I'm using corned beef--but that being said, I do use worcestershire in many corned beef dishes I prepare, so that's more salt...but even adding zero salt, it's still a lot just in the canned meat. I enjoy my meat and potato breakfasts, but they're not my regular meals anymore, maybe once a week...more often than not I'm eating more heart healthy fare for breakfast, because my body doesn't put up with my shenanigans like it used to

Love your corn beef hash recipe! In Hawaii, we have a long history of using canned meats such as corn beef, Vienna sausage, and especially spam! I’ve been cooking a recipe since childhood half century ago. Are usually start with sautéing the onions first, then adding the potatoes, and a few minutes later, the corn beef. This way, the corn beef is not putting up with prolonged heat. At the end, I had that sunny side up egg, alternatively, you can scramble a raw egg into the mixture and it makes pretty curds. Or you can substitute chopped cabbage for the chopped potatoes, to get a stirfry going. Thanks for bringing back childhood memories!

In Britain we have corned beef hash for a snack at anytime with a tin of baked beans in tomato sauce (thanks Heinz), add some of your chopped potatoes and sliced onions, a splash of Worcs. sauce and cook it all together, it's fantastic, put the beans in last for a couple of minutes they don't need a long cook and the sauce keeps everything moist. I've never had a fried egg on top before, I must try that sometime, very yummy.

My granddad used to call it "wish it was your sister sauce." He loved his cornbeef.

@@johnbodden1641 So do people in England, where it comes from. Only Americans over-pronounce it lol

I love Corned Beef Hash too and My Grandfather did too! He was in His 70s and I remember Him eating a Big Plate loving it! I got My taste for it from Him I guess. He liked to eat it fryed really brown. He would cook Hot Dogs on an open BBQ Fire too until they were almost black!

I make mine in a similar fashion right up until the Worcester sauce. I've never tried that but I will. I don't do the egg either because this is a dinner dish not breakfast. Anyway, I add a green pepper to mine and sautée it with the onions, and you're right, use a huge onion it's even better that way.

Chef Buck, you sure are one helluva breakfast maker. I love corned beef, but only ever had it over a bed of hot buttery rice. Your recipe has brought a whole new view. I tried it out with my buddies on a camping trip and you got our unanimous vote as the best " camp cook". We have yet though to get the toasting of the slices right because we burned it too much once and too little the other (: Still tasted great though.x
