Thanks for the update! Its very unfortunate that charging for a basic seller account has become a necessity, but I think it will be better for all sellers in the long run. If TPT's reputation starts to decline, we will all feel the impacts of it. -Kimberly (from Kimberly's Classroom)
I’m also glad to see the changes to new seller accounts. In the last few years, there has been so much garbage added to TPT, that it makes all of our resources harder for potential buyers to find.
$29 is too much. I am a language assistant with no long term teaching ambitions. I've become quite proud of the worksheets and activities I've invented. I was going to throw them up on TPT to make a few bucks to supplement my meager stipend. I'd be happy if I EARNED $29. It seems I've missed the chance by just two weeks.
actual human being here - with actual teachers license and actual experience making STEM products - new seller on TPT - so far the one sale (with ENORMOUS cut to TPT) I have made doesnt signal any sane reason to start paying these fees to the TPT platform. I am certain I am not the only one either.
Hi Nika, the fees are in line with other teacher marketplaces. Boom Cards are going to be charging around $60 soon and they offer no seller data. Many sellers have started to sell on their own sites.
Considering the lack of benefit from the TPT platform - that seems like a good idea although people's individual websites cant compete with TPT and related sites. @@ItsAllPrimary
Great update! You did such a great job with explaining this! I personally love that they include a ranking! It helps to put a lot into perspective. The reality here is that these are businesses. The more data we have the better!
Hi Lara, I agree - we need data to help direct our focus with what we should be doing. If we are going to spend a lot of time working on our store, we should be more intentional to work on that which will bring the sales.
Great video - thanks for sharing all of this information. So glad they're implementing these changes to get rid of the junk seller accounts. As far as the ranking system goes, my percentile number also makes me think TPT overall sales must have been low in December. To give you another point of reference, for December I was in the 92%, ranking number 7, 761, and I sold 56 units ($182). I know I will go down a lot in January because my sales were less than half of December. As always, I enjoy your videos and it's always fun when your sweet kitties make an appearance. Blessings :)
@ItsAllPrimary I've read a lot of people's comments on facebook saying their sales were way down in January (mine went down for sure). Since yours went up, my guess is that your ranking might go up.
I like the ranking and knowing where I am. I also like that it's private! I'm also a fan of getting rid of all those weird fake accounts and paying $27 for a seller account sounds like a good idea to me.
I’m pleased about the addition of the ranking system. I feel like so much of what I do on TPT is just the spray and pray approach,😂 so anything in the way of data to show me how I might be doing is helpful!
Me again haha I was listening to your discussion on Boom Premier Publisher and wanted to share my experience.. Personally, I made more this past month than I made all last year before becoming a premier publisher. That could be pure coincidence, but I havent added any new products in over a year, so thats really the only thing thats changed. I would be very curious to hear about the experiences of other sellers! ❤ -Kimberly (from Kimberly's Classroom)
Hi Kimberly - thank you for sharing. Someone had just asked about Premier in the Boom FB group and so far, the overall consensus is more sales. Happy for you!
@ItsAllPrimary That's great to hear! I haven't put much effort into Boom over the last couple years, due to the low sales compared to TPT, but I'm now considering creating some more products to see how it goes. Hope you and the kitties are doing super well too! 😺
$29 for a basic account that you can’t even get back if you upgrade at a later date and is unfair especially since they take so much of a share of the money on the basic account! It’s hard enough starting out without being penalised to even start. It will put of many from even bothering now and they might be people with really good stuff to share.
@@ItsAllPrimary Not to put you on the spot, but I just went back and looked at the original TPT email. They said this: To determine this ranking, your store’s overall gross sales for the month are compared with all other stores on TPT that made a sale that month. "Gross sales" is a pretty specific business metric. Do you think "gross sales" aligns with the results you got from the group of teachers you compared notes with? (Feel free to pass on this question.)
how do you register for the TPT town hall? I am in the 90th percentile in January and only made $159 so it's kind of disappointing that I am that high and making so little income.
Go to the homepage of TPT - type something in the search bar and then clear it - click the magnifying glass. The first product should be a Science of Reading decodable for $75.
This platform is for education, why would they do something like this? So, the changes made by TPT regarding subscription fees are great, and I support these changes. THANK YOU ❤❤❤
Hi. I am new to TPT. Made a store like 2 months ago. Posted 3 products and was able to sell 2 of them (as my first sale). I just wanna know how does the payout system works? Please guide me about it. I have already linked my paypal account through the hyperwallet but it didnt get any payout yet. TPT support seems like not working at all.
Hi Salman, what you earn in February will be paid out to you around the 10th of the following month. You will receive an email from TPT and then another one from Hyperwallet to confirm payment. Hope that helps! Congratulations on your first sale.
