You are right on, there are two lead singers here. The first verse is Chris Cornell from Soundgarden and the second is Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam. Then the rest of the song they are going back and forth together. Two of the most distinctive voices of 90s rock, totally different styles but the pair perfectly on this album.
Temple of the dog album was one of the 90s greatest albums. The whole album is a hit. It’s great watching young people enjoy what I grew up listening to.Thank you for the video
You didn't need to say Rock, he was just one of the best period. :) I remember reading something about when UMG acquired I think it might have still been A&M at the time they only kept 4 artists including Sting and Cornell who had just left Soundgarden to do his first solo album. Back in 89/90 my roommate in college ran into the band at a music store at KU when they were on tour promoting Louder than Love and after we listened to the tape he said this about Cornell "he has balls the size of watermelons and lungs the size of volkswagons." I kick myself for not going with them to the store that day and getting to meet the band before that whole scene blew up.
Hi guys! This song was written by Chris Cornell about the record industry. He is saying that he is conflicted about taking money from the industry (the mouths of decadence) because he knows that the money is actually coming from the people who buy the albums( the powerless ) and have to pay the high prices when they don’t have much money. He wants to have a successful career but not off the backs of the people who don’t have anything especially when he already has what he needs(my cup is already overfilled). He is contemplating a “hunger strike “ which is a euphemism for him not making any more albums unless the industry quits taking advantage of the people
Temple of the Dog was an American rock supergroup that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1990. It was conceived by vocalist Chris Cornell of Soundgarden as a tribute to his friend, the late Andrew Wood, lead singer of the bands Malfunkshun and Mother Love
Hey guys! The long hair blonde guy is Eddie vedder from Pearl jam and the dark haired guy is Chris Cornell from Soundgarden. This is a super group formed from both Pearl jam and Soundgarden. The genre of music is grunge. I was around when this came out and we were absolutely floored!
Chris Cornell is the back vocals. Eddie Vedder was the other vocal. Band members from both Sound Garden and Pearl Jam. But before Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam came along, that band was called Mother Love Bone, and the bands lead singer passed away, Andrew Wood.
Good catch, Rob!! #RIPCHRIS!! Chris Cornell (long hair) from Soundgarden/Audioslave and (short haired) Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam!! Love this y’all! Lovin your home videos, also!! The contractions were hilarious!! Please, I request you do RUSH - LaVilla Strangiato official video!! I think it will have something for both of you! You will not believe it!! Y’all stay well and “make somebody smile”!! God bless you and the kiddos…from Texas!!
The first singer is Chris Cornell (RIP) from Soundgarden and the second is Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam... The band is members from a band called Mother Love Bone whose lead singer had just passed away... this is an excellent example of the "Seattle sound" from the late 80s and early 90s that turned into "Grunge" rock.
As this was a one-off supergroup, they only had the one album, and this was really their only substantive radioplay hit. If there's a second song of theirs that's worth a listen, it's "Say Hello 2 Heaven". Also: You've heard Chris Cornell as the lead singer of Soundgarden, who sang "Outshined". Check out "Like a Stone" by Audioslave, a band he formed in the early 2000s.
This song is a time machine for me. When I hear it, it takes me back to an exact time and place, with good friends and great memories. Awesome song! Chris Cornell is the singer for Soundgarden.
The first guy is Chris Cornell of Soundgarden & Audioslave (RIP). The second guy is Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam - same guy from the "Black" reaction video you guys did. Temple of the Dog was a tribute band for Andrew Wood who died of a heroin overdose (they released only one album). Many of the guys from Pearl Jam played with Andrew in the band Mother Love Bone (which disbanded after he passed and out of that Pearl Jam was born). All incredible Seattle artists.
This is Chris Cornell, lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave, and Eddie Vedder, lead singer of Pearl Jam, all three are grunge rock bands. They joined together to form Temple of The Dog. You should listen to Chris Cornells covers of Princes Nothing Compares To You, and MJ's Billie Jean, it will amaze you!! RIP Chris❤❤
In this case there is a story! Mother lover bone ,a Seattle band and the lead singer Andrew wood was Chris Connells close friend . He over dosed just after the release of there first album. The majority of the band needed a new singer, after hearing there new singer they brought him up to Seattle to creat pearl jam. And part of sound garden and part of pearl jam got together and wrote an album dedicated to the death of Andrew wood. Eddie and Chris became close friends after that.
You've heard both of these singers before. The first singer with the goatee and mustache is Chris Cornel (R.I.P. 2017 suicide) singing in his lower range. About a month ago you listened to Soundgarden do "Outshined". Same guy. The second singer standing in the weeds most of the time for this video and clean shaven is Eddie Vedder. About a week ago you watched Pearl Jam's Unplugged performance of "Black". Same guy. During most of this song, except the beginning, Cornell takes the higher, belting parts and Vedder takes the lower stuff. They can both do both of those things. You are watching two 90's era GIANTS sing together beautifully.
The lead singer of Audioslave is Chris Cornell and the long curly haired guy singing in Hunger Strike is Chris Cornell RIP Chris and the other guy singing in Hunger Strike is Eddie Vedder lead singer of Pearl Jam. 2 very good vocalists
The opening riff is an echo of the piano riff from Mother Love Bone’s song Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns. Hunger Strike (and “Would?” By Alice in Chains) was inspired by the death of Andrew Wood, singer of Mother Love Bone.
im a grumpy old 74 year old . Ive listened to many "reaction" vids and I have to say your true love of music makes you stand above the others . Ive not heard any "Do-Wop" yet , may I suggest Pittsburg's "The Skyliners" singing "Since I Don't Have You" recorded around 1960 .
This is Pearl Jam + Soundgarden. Long hair curly is Chris from Soundgarden, the other is Eddie Vedder from PJ. Check out Say Hello 2 Heaven by Temple of the Dog.
My four/ five year old would suggest this and we'd sing it on our half hour ride to school. Id sing Eddie Vedder and he'd yell Chris Cornell in harmony
Not only is the comment below mine spot on, but what’s even cooler is that both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden share some of the same band members! But yeah, that definitely is the lead singer of Soundgarden! 😂 Both bands of which were part of the uprising of the Big Seattle 4 of grunge. (Alongside Nirvana and Alice In Chains). Cornell also was the frontman of Audioslave, also a supergroup much like Temple of The Dog. Then he also had a solo career, which he even did a pop album with Timbaland, one of the songs which had been in One Tree Hill. Sidenote: Him and Chester from Linkin Park were best friends. May they both Rest In Peace. 😭
Its a super group colab with both Chris Cornell (RIP) from Soundgarden at the time, also Audioslave in the future, and Pearl Jam's Eddie Veder and other members.
Temple of the Dog came from a a reference of a song by Mother Love Bone - “Man of golden words” in which the lyrics “temple of the dog “ can be found . It’s a tribute to the singer Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone , Andrew Wood died after a heroin overdose in 1990 , so sad because Andrew was such an awesome singer and presence in the early “grunge” scene !
You should absolutely react to Chris Cornell's cover of Prince's "Nothing compares to you". It's a live session. His voice will bring you to tears. R.I.P Chris
Another super group song you would like is The Traveling Wilbury's (Jeff Lynne, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan. Roy actually passed away before the video was made) and the song is End of The Line (official video)
guys its chris cornell and eddie vedder are the 2 leads both voices incredible. eddie is lead singer of pearl jam and chris cornell lead singer of soundgarden and like 2 other bands i think. chris died a few years ago and eddie is one of the only front men from the 90's that is still alive today and his entire band all but the drummer are all still same members from the 90's
You guys should check out Candlebox. Soulful, meaningful songs that really rock. Start with 'He Calls Home' then 'Far Behind', 'You', "Cover Me' and 'Change'.
Chris Cornell is the singer of Soundgarden and audioslave. Listen to his solo stuff.especiallt his version of nothing compares to you and seasons. Audioslave stuff is rocking to.
Correct Chris Cornell was the lead singer of Soundgarden and one of the best voices ever. Check out Cochise from Audio Slave who Chris sang for as well.
For something outside the box to check out would be BAND-MAID. Perhaps the best rock band out today. Their official live videos are absolutely awesome. Freedom (live) would be my top recommendation, but Domination, Play or anything from them is amazing. 🤘
Hey guys.Watched your opening of things ppl sent u.Was alot fun and your daughters are precious .Lovely family .Can I suggest as a life long fan U give David Bowie a listen to.Golden years or Famd or space oddity all great introduction. He is iconic for being a very gifted singer and song writter and his influence on music over decades .Thanks .Sue from Australia 🙂
I've been waiting for y'all to do this one, great reaction! Please go down this rabbit hole, there was only one album as it was a tribute to the late Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone, but it's an amazing album. Also please check out some more Pearl Jam and any Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave, Chris Cornell Solo). Pearl Jam suggestions: "Porch at Pink Pop", "Release". Chris Cornell suggestions: Soundgarden - "The Day I Tried To Live, Rusty Cage or Slaves and Bulldozers", Audioslave "Cochise, I Am The Highway", Chris Cornell Solo: "Preaching The End of The World, or When I'm Down Live at the Troubadour".
Well I knew Chris Cornell was in this song I never saw the video but now I realize that that is Eddie Vedder's voice along with Chris Cornell's!! The voices are similar enough I guess just hearing them where I never did make a distinction that it was two different singers!! So looks like I'm getting a first-time reaction type of feeling myself along with Jay and Amber!!
These 2 guys were close friends to the late Layne Staley from Alice in chains. Eddie Vedder 2nd singer is from Pearl Jam. Chris Cornell & Lane Staley both have past away.
The singers should ring a bell, bearing in mind you have reacted to both Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Most of Temple of the dog is Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) on lead with Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) on backing, but this song has Eddie on lead for the verses.
Good job on recognizing Chris’ voice from Sound Garden!! Obviously the other is Eddie from Pear Jam. Interesting little nugget, Eddie just happened to be in the studio When they were recording and Chris was it liking icy hell it was sounding and Eddie stepped in and said this is what you need to do. And sung the part he sings and that’s how he ended up on the track. Pretty cool!
Chris Cornell is regarded by most as one of the greatest rock singers! You need to dive deeper into his singing! Now the short story behind the band... The guitarists were in the band Mother Love Bone before Pearl Jam existed. Lead singer died, Cornell writes a couple songs in memory and the guys join him to play them and the music flows and created this album. Eddie Vedder was coming up to see about joining the remaining members of Mother Love Bone and was asked if he wanted to sing on this song and a timeless masterpiece was created.
He reminds you of the lead singer from Soundgarden because he is the lead singer from Soundgarden. Quite a duet from Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder. Essentially Pearl Jam with Chris Cornell.. In other words, a supergroup.
Temple of the Dog - Say Hello 2 Heaven is a must now that you've broken the seal on this band. Before you listen to it, imagine losing a close friend/loved one to drugs and then writing a song to him of your regret and heartache. It's amazing.
Eddie Vedder reminds you of Eddie Vedder - of Pearl Jam. Chris Cornell reminds you of Chris Cornell - of Audioslave, Soundgarden. This is Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder together.
Robb is right on with his guess of Chris Cornell and he is paired with Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. If you liked this group then you should definitively react to "Say Hello to Heaven" which is the first song on the Temple of the Dog album and the song "Say Hello to Heaven" is the reason why the album and band came together. Its on of Chris Cornell's best vocals in my opinion. Please listen to the album version the live version are not recorded well. There is a lyric version of this song because there was not an official video for the song.
