won't even lie, recently sold my GLI mk6 autobahn, and currently looking for a scat-pack but to be honest with you, i'm just not a 4 banger turbo type of guy and have always been into v8's., so that's pretty much a give in since i'm a freak for 8 cylinders but based on the few mod's i had done to my GLI including a 3 inch inlet, 4 inch outlet HKS style muffler, res delete, and a simple cold air filter, the performance gains were unreal in comparison to most other vehicles i simply modified...these cars actually have alot of potential power, and all it requires is simple tuning and bolt ons alone...they're no doubt some of the best forced induction 4 bangers to own for projects because they're so easy to make quick with right setup...if i do ever decide to go the forced induction route in the future, i'll no doubt cop another GLI or GTI for sure..i can also respect the fact that they don't sound like weed wackers either, just deep and mellow-aggressive almost like the 2.5 i5..
If you're a v8 guy definitely get the cars that makes you happy. But, yea these cars are some what easy to modify to gain hp and not a lot of cars from factory you can double the hp on stock internals. I have a custom exhaust system, but most of these cars sounds decent with minor mods for real.
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds yeah, you are entirely right about these vehicles in particular abnormally gaining over 100hp with just a tune alone..just kind of goes to show us that the stock hp numbers are kept low (211-240hp) all for the sake of a steady msrp price, and of course, economical reasons aswell.. VW could easily easily throw a more aggressive stock tune on these vehicles, and have the standard GTI's and GLI's pushing at least 290 out of the box...yes, the cpu for the GLI's and GTI's seem to play a bigger role in performance than a majority of the other forced induction vehicles out there...i guess this is why there are so many inconsistent videos when it comes to street races...one stage 2 gti will beat everything on 4 wheels while the other stage 2 will struggle to keep up with SI's...you'll have multiple stage 1 GTi's and all could have the same exact mods but with different brand tunes, and one GTI will still literally be a whole bus length quicker/slower than the other..i guess this is why i hear alot of VW guys mention the phrase "properly tune' so much...my Mk6 simply had a 3inlet/4outlet muffler, and a res delete, and assuming i was on the stock tune or maybe the previous owner tweaked it, but all i do know is that i ate some mk7 stage 2 Gti's for lunch and put a whole 2 car lengths on him on the highway which really came off to me as odd..the only thing about these vehicles is the fact that you can do everything right in terms of bolt ons but if the tune isn't up to par, nothing else matters...mind boggling🤔
