Diagnosing a major vibration on the Piper Arrow project plane... Follow me on instagram @Gear_down These videos are edited for time and should not be used for instructional purposes. All checklists are performed. =)
Leo is a great guy, he balanced props of airplanes I owned for years, glad to see him ticking with that same old machine, I drove him crazy most of the time, always wanted a ZERO reading.
The arrow is such a fun plane to fly. I did all of my single engine flight training in high wing aircraft, but the arrow came later and wished I did my initial ratings in piper birds. Can't wait to see the end result of the paint/interior work
Nice Arrow, I have a 1973. I have done new interior and electronics. If you go with AitTex ask the the high back conversion for your seats. If was one of the first warm days of spring I went out to update the data bases and fell asleep in my new seat.
I think prop balancing should be required. I had one balanced on a 172 and a Baron. big difference. I even balance my drone props myself, using clear nail polish as the "weights". BIG difference !
I have a three blade 1969 arrow and definitely am going to get a balance especially seeing how quick and easy this is. Need some new interior work as well, will probably go with Air Tex,. Love the vid and can't wait to see some more! Also if you know anyone looking for a Hawker SIC let me know :)
Good stuff!!! Remember to enjoy the process. I miss the training days! You’ll be achieving your aviation goals before you know it. So cherish the process.
When I sold my 180D, I wanted to buy an Arrow. But, I decide the extra speed wasn't worth it, compared to the maintenance costs of a constant speed prop, and retractable gear. My Archer is pretty slow. I plan for 110 knots cruise. But I can afford to keep it. Just barely. I was going to upgrade the panel, but unless you upgrade your autopilot, that doesn't make sense either. With the shit you can get on your Ipad or Android, you really don't need it. Until they start getting rid of ILS, LOC, and VOR approaches, you can go most anywhere IFR without too much problem. And, if you're VFR, you do need it at all.
Can you shoot me Leo’s info? Just picked up a pa-28-180 that’s now at French Valley that I can almost guarantee has never had the prop balanced. Keep jammin man, love the content. 🤙
I got flight time in a P180 and the mechanic found out the weird issues in the one I flew in were due to the actual (drive shaft?) being slightly bent.
Feel like I'm missing something... last video on this is when you went to check it out and put a deposit down. Then this. Would've loved to see the rest of the purchase, etc.
@@gear_down I presumed you dont but like you wear Full Send NELK Happy Dad merch and enjoy the party vibes. Even more that You stay straight and fly the plane like a pro. Dam cool You are cert mechanic also>Truly living your best life. Congrats man stay clean and focused.
I wonder what the purpose of this video was - to promote something as a vibration guru? Every motor vibrates. The most important part was missing from the video: what was done to reduce the vibration?
@@gear_down thanks. It’s about a school project and I’m fascinated with the business model you’ve built and the way your highlighting other aspects of aviation.
