You need to heat up the wire first and then apply solder. Be sure to use fuel resistant heat shrink, Cross linked polyolefin otherwise it will expand. Also 340LPH is probably overkill for your setup. Would have gone with a walbro 255 instead of a ISR originally
Use soldering tin on the wires. It will be a lot easier and look cleaner. In addition, wipe the iron a wet sponge after each wire soldered. Hopefully that helps.
Install a relay to the fuel pump. Straight from the battery. The old existent wiring is old and probably isnt keeping its voltage/amps. Also. Spray your rusty as fuel cell cap before it spreads tht cancer to under your trunk. :)
Definitely a great idea! Fortunately, I've already installed a relay from the fuel pump straight to the battery! I should definitely sort out all that rust though.
