21:15 Luke, if you weren't so distracted by Clementine's physique. Did you noticed that a total of 4 silver tags dropped while she was squeezed. Those 4 tags represent the 4 members that party up with Momonga that Clementine killed.

"Nabe", the Tier3 Mage, indeed would find it very difficult to really win against 2 Skeleton Dragons. Unluckily, for the dragons, that's just her public persona.

That look on Luke's face when he realizes Nabe was holding back that whole time. Priceless)

Aoi Yuuki, the voice actress of Clementine, is very talented: To be able to put so much expression, tone changes, vocal switching from throat to front and breath seamlessly on the lines is astonishing.

Clementine's death was so graphic in the LN, that they explained everything what's happening to her body as she's getting hugged by Papa bones. I think her final death was explained like "her internal organs flew in every orifices of her body" (something like that).

You got the "hypocritical" part right! A lot of people miss that, and I think it's one of the funniest and fucked up parts of the episode.

These are some really epic fights. 5:56: Khajit had just buffed the Skeletal Dragon with the spell _Undead Flame,_ which covered it in fire that would drain the life energy of anyone who touched the dragon. Nabe used the spell _Protection Energy - Negative_ to defend herself. It was basically her way of saying "I have an answer for every spell you just used."

I find it hilarious how orichalcum is always used to refer to some fantasy metal or to represent relatively high ranks, when in reality it was just how the ancient Romans referred to a certain brass alloy.

Little detail. The knifes that both Ains and Nabe show were the black daggers that our dead fellas shown when they shared their goal as adventurers and the lore about passed Heroes. There was an intention from Ains to take up revenge with those swords, but he changed his mind during the fight. For Nabe instead, she was just smashing some bug xD. So yes, Momonga was a huge hypocrite here.

This might be one of the only times I've ever seen someone killed by a hug. It was so brutal, watching her armour crackle and pop and fall off, and then her bones shortly after.

So, the thing with Naberal's build is that while she is not that high level compared to some beings in Nazarick, akin to the other battle maids, her build is so highly specialized that she is able punch above her weight quite easily. Specifically, her skills and build is directed towards using lightning magic to buff its damage output. I believe seventh tier magic is the highest she can go, but even with that, the power of her high-tier lightning spells easily rises to one level above that in its damage dealing capabilities. This is reminiscent to her creator whose playstyle was very much based around high dps and speed. (Some information about him below. While I don't consider this a spoiler since the anime only name drops him once.... I think, and even the LNs make only a brief mentions of him with no real plot relevancy. I've also read that there are some extra material that you can get you hands on if you buy the blue-rays, but I haven't seen those and only work on the knowledge basis that LNs give. I leave it to others to decide whether they want to know the info or want to keep it as mystery for themselves. So.... light SPOILERS ahead!). ...... Her creator was Nishikienrai, one of the original founders of the guild if my memory serves, who played an assassin character (ninja to be more specific) and was all about that high damage output, speed and low defense. Why invest in defense and hp if you are never going to get hit (hardcore dark souls and elden ring players are probably nodding their heads right about now). Furthermore, he also had that typical trait of many dps players where he was a daredevil who would run into the thick of the fight even with his comparatively low defense which caused a lot of headache to his guild mates at times (being a healers worst nightmare). That said he was also very chill dude and easy to like.

Man, Clementine's VA is just such a Beast! Not only because of her regular Performance, but I rarely have heard someone depict so realistically the Fear and Panic of being helplessly crushed to Death...

RIP Clementine, one of my favourite crazy lady characters. The voice, the red eyes, the facial expressions, the uh...the rest of her.....ah i miss her already. Truely taken from us too soon. It does go to show the overwhelming strength ainz possess in this world though. She was a very straight forward fighter, but insanely effective i would wager. Like in context of the world, she wouldn't be leveling cities or anything like that, but her one on one killing potential is insane. basically the definition of a Ultra high DEX PvP assassin.

Hey, thanks for this great reaction! 1- Naberal wasn't makingsure the sword didn't fall out of the scabbard, she made sure the scabbard wouldn't fly of the blade. It seems similar, but in essence, it is different. If the sword fell out of the scabbard, she could still use the scabbard to hit the skeletal dragon, on the other hand if it flew off, she wouldn't be able to use the sword against it. Think about it as a cement block. If you want to do any damage to it, you'll use a blunt object, not a bladed one. The blade could chip it, not perce it, but the blunt object could break it. That monster is made entirely of bones, blade woulnd't help a lot against it... A blunt scabbard though, that could do a lot of damage. 2- Negative energy is closely related to death. That's why the Ray of negative energy healed the dragon, it being an undead creature, death energy heal it. Naberal being alive would be harmed by negative energy. On the other hand, positive energy, the one closely related to life, would heal her and harm the undead dragon. 3- Yes. Ains was actually learning a lot from Clementine. Back in Yggdrasil, martial arts didn't exist so it's a new form of attacks and skills he doesn't know about. That's something he now understand he should be careful about. After all, if he doesn't know about it, there might be some exceptionaly powerful martial arts that would be a danger for him and the floor guardians. Also, he never learned how to fight as a warrior, so watching someone who really do know how to do it up close is a good experience for him. 4- Ains order Naberal Gamma to hold back during their investigation. She is forbidden to use magic higher than 3rd tier and she has to refrain from using all of her strength. Same goes for him. As long as he is fighting under the Momon name, he will not use magic of any kind and only use his 2 broad swords. Basicly, it's like a boxing match where they'll unly use their left hand without moving their feet. That's as bad as the handicap is for them. By giving her that order, he gave her permission to go all out. 5- Once again, congratulation! I've seen a very big numbers of new viewers miss the fact the "I'm a huge hypocrite" real meaning. You've got it right! But! You missed something. The breastplate popping off wasn't as cheeky as you thought. There is a gruesome explanation for it. As he was cruching her, her muscles end organs were moving up her torso to make more place for the pressure. It meant the ribs would expand, pushing the breast upward, putting a huge amount of pressuge on her breastplate. That pressure is what was damaging it. Those plates flying off litteraly meant some of her organs were exploding under the pressure of his bear hug. Her lost teeth and the blood on her face was far from the most horrifying thing in that scene, it was the internal damage that was the worse. Also, keep in mind, we saw the blood coming out from one end, it also means it went out the other end too. That's the amount of damage he inflicted upon her body in a very short amount of time and without any real attacks.

I like how they focus on the iron plates falling off her armor at the end. Those were probably the iron plates of the swords of darkness team that she killed and caused him to go after her.

Nabe uses 2 metamagic feats when she fights. Twin magic, which doubles your spell, and maximize magic, which makes your spell always roll it's highest possible damage.

fun note that wasnt told in the anime is that clementines body was stolen by the zuranon cult and was revived so she is in fact still alive in the new world there was even a game where she escapes from nazrick

You should know by now that Ains is a mage. He's pretending to be a warrior in his "Momon" Disguise but he does not have any warrior skills. He's just so higher in level that his strength is enough to pretend. His full strength is in magic. That's why he first said that he will not fight in full strength which means that he will fight as a warrior, not a mage. But while fighting clementine, he understood his limitations as a warrior. Also similarly Nabe is a mage and should have been physically weak, which is why her beating up the dragons with her sheathed sword and also tanking their attacks surprised Khajit so much

Alright, time to explain some mechanics. Firstly the orb isn't just for show. It's his catalyst for casting death/negative energy spells. Presumably because it provides a buff to spells of that nature. Which is why you see him casting other spells, like Acid Jacalin (which presumable would be an Earth spell given acid attacks in other media), with his staff. Honestly its a nice touch when you notice it. Dragons in most fiction are highly resistant to magic to the point of seeming immune. That isn't just an Overlord thing. That said, as you saw since the dragon is undead. It can be healed via attacks like Ray of Negative energy. Meaning healing magics would hurt it. This is a mechanic present in many different properties. An example would be in Final Fantasy 8. Where the boss undead Gerogero can be instantly killed by using a Pheonix Down. This item a staple of the series that revives downed player characters. Just a point about Narberal Gamma the show doesn't bring up. Her race is known as doppelganger. These, as the name might imply, can take the appearance of others to pass as human. However Narberal wasn't designed like that. All her points are put into her magic casting abilities. So she is stuck with only two forms. The one you always see her in and her true form. Which is still humanoid in shape. However the skin is gray-ish white and slightly slimy. The fingers are abnormally long. Though the most horrifying figure is the face. Which is devoid of features except for three perfectly round holes where eyes and a mouth should be. I'll say again, this isn't a spoiler since you don't see her looking like that in the series. Since you kind of missed what Gamma was talking about when she said about taking a souvenir for someone else. She was actually talking about the necromancer's body. I won't explain why.

Momon calling to Nabe in this episode almost came close to Might Guy telling Rock Lee to drop the weights.

One of my favorite trivia facts about this series is that the jewel is actually sentient and after this fight chose to worship Ainz and wishes to serve him, but never gets to speak to him or serve him because the hamster holds on to the jewel and refuses to let the jewel go to Ainz since they made the hamster hold it and everyone else immediately forgets about it

Momonga is a thinker and strategist. He was only ever comfortable fighting someone after observing them and learning their habits and weaknesses. When it comes to Clementine... He knew what she was like after she saw the body where she clearly took her time killing the secret girl of the adventure group, the way the bodies were booby trapped to go zombie once someone came in to investigate, as well as all the things he did to call her out of hiding when he fought his way to the heart of the cemetery where they were hiding/baased in. You're right on the money when you realize he was lying the whole time. He denied clementine any of the joy she normally would have have felt at making a teammate feel anguish at the loss of another. He was there to make her pay, especially mentally. He played it off cool so she never got any satisfaction and really ticked her off by always alluding to how weak he thought her and how her actions basically meant very little to him, though she's actually very strong and powerful in the world in comparison to everything not Nazerick. He figured her out and played her like a fiddle and the slow, crushing death is what he felt like she deserved after seeing what she did to the other girl. He was in fact very mad at their deaths and he made her suffer for it. He was also genuinely testing out his skill that let him become a warrior class and was learning how to fight as a warrior from her. It was intentional that magic caster nabe was pitted against a magic resistant foe while Ainz, a magic caster, who is supposed to be weak and frail and man the back lines so that warrior types like clementine can't take them out as easily... He's so powerful compared to her that his true magic caster build has enough raw physical strength and damage mitigation that she never had a chance, despite being his weakest stats. This episode was very cathartic once you realize what was going on, that he lied and was out for revenge. 'It would be very hypocritical of me to emotional about this or blame you for something I might have done in your shoes as a purely logical person out for his own self... Well guess what, I'm being real hypocritical right now' *crush*. JS, Overlord is a favorite for a reason. Pardon the tldr text wall...

Thing to keep in mind is a lot of the time Ainz and his guardians are playing with their prey so to speak. Cant learn a lot about the world if you just instant nuke everything even if they can

Ainz gives Best Hug

The way I think of Ainz's feelings towards humans is like this: he considers them to be like animals. Clementine killing the humans that he was looking after is like her killing his beloved pet puppies, because they're the ones that he knows and is looking after. But he doesn't mind killing random humans, any more than most people mind the fact that some random cow died for them to have a burger, it's just a thing that's necessary for having food.

Beautiful Princess Nabe/Naberal Gamma is indeed great. [Even though I am a worm beneath her feet, unworthy of her attention.] Clementine got exactly what she deserved. The statement from Ainz that she didn't deserve death by a blade amplified the fact that she wasn''t a warrior, just a feral murderer. Compare this attitude to later fights where Ainz actually respects his opponent.

Yeah it is imposible for shaltear to revolt against Ainz. But talk about her a little. She is one of "Nazarick floor bosses". Nazarick is a guild but apparently guild raids work like normal raids. So you need full party(or more). And those people go from floor to floor. Fighting with each boss. They need whole team to fight them bc that powerfull they are. If Aizn try to solo her it would be like trying to do solo raid boss from warcraft.

The gem Kajit (lich guy) was using is sentient in the novel!

No - The way you deal with skeletal creatures is not with a 'slash' (Sword) or 'piercing' (spear/dagger) weapons. It is with a blunt weapon (Mace or in this case, a sheathed sword). Skeletal Dragons are shrouded by 'negative energy', which is why she put up 'Protection: Negative Energy'. Think of 'negative energy' draining. Life Engery is positive, undead is the opposite of life. What Momon did, was told Narberal's "restriction" has been removed. As one of the Battle Maids of Nazerick, she is one of the last lines of defense. She accompanied Momon as a 'guard' and to pose as a team mate with him while he was disguised. With that, they had to downplay their ability while they are exploring this new world. And remember, they 'claimed' she was able to cast 5th tier magic. And Khadjit says 7th tier is the pinnacle, except, she can cast higher than that. BTW - Those were the guild plates of all her victims 'popping' off her armor from Ains' punishment of her.

Honestly there is no greater troll than slowly killing your opponent with nothing but a simple(although Ains is op) hug to crush your bones and organs like they’re nothing.

It's strange that just Clementine's voice bothers you considering that her voice actress is the same one that gives life to Tania the Devil, Madoka and Tatsumaki from One Punch Man. 😅 By the way, Mare's voice is the same as Puck from Re Zero...

The anime never mentions it, but Ains couldn't collect her corpse as it did disappear after the fight.

Heyo. Your favourite subscriber here once again :p So I wanted to just give a fun fact. YGGDrasil actually had a system to declare how good or evil a character is called the Karma Rating. Karma Rating ranges from -500 to 500 points. -500 points being as evil as possible that a character can get, while 500 points being practically a saint. Ainz has a Karma Rating of -500, meaning he is as evil as a character can get. But his way is still lawful, despite being evil, meaning that if he has no reason to hurt you then he simply won't hurt you. If you somehow get on his bad side though or if your death can gain him something, he won't hesitate to kill you. In the same way, if he saw you getting tortured to death, he wouldn't bother to interfere without any reason. So basically he is a complete lawful evil.

What's great about this show is just how ridiculously strong Ainz and his servants are. Even the hamster is stronger than probably everything in this world.

Ther are parts of overlord from the novels that weren’t actually made in to the anime because they were too gruesome to show like the happy farm.

Albedo is still the best, but Nabe is definitely close behind. Those insults can awaken something in people. I think one of the best part of Overlord is that it's not the usual "let's use the power of friendship" and "let's save the other world" type of isekai. It has a lot of interesting ideas and just it's fun to watch.

I'm putting this in a little about the 12-minute mark and obviously you've seen the video already. But like momonga said they weren't fighting seriously. It's like when you're playing against the computer and you know they're going to keep doing the same thing over and over and you toy with it. When gaming I am quite a bit of a sadist. Did you notice the plaques that were falling as he was crushing her? These represented the 5 iron plaques of the guys she killed.

Luke, there is "let's forget I said this" and there is "She thinks she can lie to THE supreme being THE unrivaled genius Ainz-sama, who sees all and understands all". Guess which one is not worth pretending. Just kidding. Or not?

Don't know if anyone said this yet, but the reason he was mad wasn't the loss of comrades. It wasn't his humanity. It was the tools, the loss of information supposed to be gathered by ninya on the dragon that controlled nature. He was mad his tools to learn of the world and advance his name is what made him say this. Because now he has to change his plans and get more "tools" after all the effort he put in.

Fun fact: In the cartoon short series, Pure Pure Plaeiades, which takes place after the events in season 1, Clementine is shown alive. She’s, understandably, not very keen on interacting with Ainz or any of the others from Nazarick. It should be said though, that it is not clear if that series is canon or not.

For context, Ains and Narberal are holding back massively as adventurers. Momon is probably the equivalent of a Lv 40 or 50 warrior at this point. While Nabe is a 20-30 Mage and limiting herself to Tier 3 magic. Narberal is Lv 63 and capable of casting up to Tier 8 magic and Ains is Lv 100 and capable of casting Tier 10 and Super Tier magic. Clemintine is roughly Lv 30. Yeah, they never stood a chance.

Momonga, the Lytch that thinks like a human, but feels like a monster

when i was first watching this show ages ago i knew the show was going to be dark and somewhat sinister but when this episode hit and clementine was killed that way it just REALLY set the table to let people know he ain't playing at all. and he did even use magic. he just slowly and gradually crushed her to death in his arms. talk about personal touch. (pun absolutely intended)

I've almost been crushed to death (I was saved by someone witnessing it). It hurts a lot. Especially the ribs healing afterwards. I feel bad for Clementine... since I can relate.

Did you know that the manga is even more brutal as the anime? There you could see organs coming out from Clementine. Also there are some parts left out in the anime as they are to brutal. They will reference to it but never talk realy about it. like "i got this from room nr 13". But never talking about the room itself. If youre open we could hold u op to date with this background info for the episodes you have watched.

Ainz was gonna use those adventurers to gather info and spread his name. He got upset because Clementine kinda got in his way, so he decided to crush her. Ainz is not good or bad, he does what he thinks would benefit the Nazarick.
