That's not how the golden ball works for Canada's lotto 6/49. The new Brunswick man's number played no role in his winning. They select one ticket at random from the serial numbers to be get an attempt at the jackpot. Not the sequence of 6 numbers. the six numbers are ONLY for the $5,000,000 prize. The way the golden ball works is the there are 49 number balls and one golden ball. Each draw a ticket is randomly selected to drop a ball from the pot. If the golden ball isn't chosen you still win $1,000,000 and jackpot goes up by $2,000,000. There will be less balls after each draw until the inevitable drop of the golden ball. So it doesn't matter what your numbers are one ticket is randomly selected for a chance at the golden ball every draw.
