When I go to charity shops the afghans kind of make me sad! I think of the cost and time invested, and someone just tossed it. lol I have a weird piece that was the extra yarn when my grandma made me a Grannie square bedspread, I can’t force myself to throw it away. It is acrylic, but one part she needed more yarn and must have accidentally picked up wool because one square is felted! And 13 year old Carole certainly had different taste! Guess my kids will toss it someday.
@lilolmecj maybe not. All my pieces someone has treasured because they love crochet. It's making a come back. A while ago I started crocheting harder more interesting projects. Because I know many ppl. Keep the interesting & harder intruqit design. So maybe if they end up at thrift stores someone will pick them up & give them a new home. I have been crocheting since I was about 11 & now I'm 69. It's a gift of relaxing while making something beautiful. Many of my neices want to learn & once in awhile I get a chance to try & teach them.
I only made one, (I like much smaller projects), made it in the late eighties, was supposed to be white, mauve and navy, instead it was white, hot pink and medium blue, never used it, block colors not pretty, just gave to the thrift store a few weeks ago. Lol
I like Zeb’s suggestion of taking all of the soft goods to the laundromat. Yes, it can be expensive but that is a lot of wear and tear on your washer and dryer. Plus, you are done in a few hours versus two - three days.
The problem is I hang dry most of them. So where would I hang them all at once lol. We have a semi commercial speed queen set. So it can handle it or it should lol
The creepy doll book! I'm laughing thinking, "Really? Did you have to zoom in? I'm totally going to have nightmares" and Zeb's like "...heh heh, I had to do that...". 😅❤
@@JamiRayVintage ... that is too funny! I got the feeling he left it behind but didn't realize you had picked it up... I went back to the end for the haul viewing, and yep, there it is on the bottom of the book pile! 😊Really look forward to all your videos!❤
This is Grandma from Texas. I can’t believe you found a Bobsey Twins book at the bins. I am a twin I have a twin brother. When we were little our older sister would read The Bobsey Twins books to us. It is such a fond memory. I pick them up whenever I run across them. Great find
This is the only channel I like to watch on thrifting. I think it’s because you both are very natural and down to earth. It doesn’t feel like a vlog that is trying to entertain us for the likes. You are simply taking us along while you take care of your fun business. Thank you for being you in this crazy world! ❤❤
I'm from the UK and have never heard of table scarves. It made me smile as I imagined the dining table wrapped in a woolly scarf on a winters day 😄 Thank you for sharing your videos I love them.
New subscriber here, from MT. I love that you guys rescue the old books, quilts and afghans, etc from the landfills. Goodwill makes more money for their programs they pay for, you guys make money and it saves great items from being thrown away. Win, win, win! We live in a small area and travel 35 minutes to get to a, not so good, Goodwill. We can't be choosy here though. Sometimes we find some great items but our prices are higher here than anywhere I've seen on any videos. Not even sure if we have a Goodwill bins in our state, maybe in the most populated city. It's four hours away so we don't get over there too often. Thanks for sharing!✌️😊
I don't play golf, but I do know that PING is a good name in golf clubs, and for $3 !! Yay, Bobbsey Twins! And yes, I've crocheted plenty of afghans, and they are a lot of time, money, and love. Thanks for rescuing them!
I love when you go to the Bin's. So many beautiful afghans and Quilts. The cups and desert plates you got at the beginning, were so cute also. Great selection.Of books you picked up at the bins. 😊❤
The bowls & little dessert plates are so pretty!! That was a score! And the stacking baskets.. love that shape..but holy cow.. I yelled "EEEK, NO,ZEB!"😂 when he did a deep dive into that creepy doll book! Ohmygosh..freak out over here lol
I bought my first Afghan today, after binge watching your videos, I was thrifting and saw the most beautiful white afghan with blue flowers, I had to buy it, its size of a large throw and in perfect condition. I will never pass up Afghan again without looking at them. 😁😁😁
The creepy doll book is a hoot! And in Clearwater, FL no one messes with the carts lined up along the wall. They have signs up saying that it is not allowed to "shop" the carts on the wall! Also, people look out for others and let people know nicely not to do that.
I love the quilts so much!! My closest GW bins is 2hrs from us! UGH I really enjoy your videos. Zeb...step away from the creepy doll books, terrifying!! lol
I agree with your other viewer, thanks for saving the quilts. Pet rescue and shelters always need food and blankets. ( If anyone wants to donate ) And the Pendleton was so vibrant. Great colors 🎉😅❤ Great Haul
So funny how things operate differently from one goodwill bins to the next. Our carts get left alone by other ppl if they are covered. So everyone grabs a blanket or sheet as soon as they get there. The new bins aren’t covered when they roll them out. Also, you can’t film either and it’s way more uncivilized than your location 😂 yes… the police get called more times than one would think. Its like a disgruntled prison yard lol
I find it fascinating what you pick that sells in your area. Afghans would just not sell in our area. Vintage unfinished quilt tops sell, and some crocheted doilies sell.
I was just in TJ MAX today. So many clothing and quilts that are crocheted. I've picked up a few myself. Yours sell for great money. I don't know if Ebay will compete with that. But I'll try!! Love watching you both!!❤
Zeb there was a wood wall pendulum heavy clock at the Sandy di today it looked like it needs the chime thing reattached I thought of you when I saw it !
Hi Jami and Zeb, love your videos, i look forward to them every week. I was wondering when you were going to list the history of nursing book. My grandaughter is heading into her 3rd year of nursing school and i would love to buy her the book.
If this is your money maker.....maybe you guys should be looking for a COMMERCIAL WASH MACHINE 😊 LARGE,...LIKE IN THE LAUNDROMATS. YOU'LL SAVE SO MUCH TIME AND MONEY 💰 😊😊
We have a semi commercial set. I was going to buy a commercial set but commercial washers require a special drain system that has to be done basically when your house is built. Also they are very heavy and our laundry room is on the second floor. But our set is a semi commercial speed queen set
