Been following Tokido's career since Street Fighter 4 tournaments, and he is definitely a Grandmaster in the Street Fighter world, alongside with other players like Diago Umehara. As a South African, I must say this fight made me happy to see South Africa being represented in this. Well done Jabhim.
@@_mcdwhy you gotta throw shade like that, Jabhim got two perfects against a “goat” of the game, you’re acting as if Jabhim just played some random kid - Jabhim had all thr perfect parry’s etc. Jabhim was on fire
Some of the best air throwing, ex fireballs and perfect parry's I've seen in sf6. This a huge level up on Jabhim's part since capcom cup. This was excellent.
@@tainle So you’re probably the first one on Twitter complaining that NBC “seems racist” for showing favoritism to the US during the Olympics? They’re South African commenters at a South African hosted tourney excited to see one of their own holding up against a legend.
2 perfect rounds vs Tokido in the same match, when was the last time that happened?! SF6 is great fun to watch in these high level games, very unpredictable and plenty of options allowing players to show their skill.
I have never seen anyone play Chun Li at that level. I guess this is the result of extreme talent coupled with hours and hours of playtime. The best match I've ever seen. Simply amazing.
@@brekthruyeah the people that feel they need to throw out hyperbole to get attention are tiresome😒 how many times you think this guy has written/said "this was the best x of all time" or "I have never seen this before in my life blabla"?
@@leob4403 Or maybe they actually spend time outside instead of making it their job to know the rankings for every top player on every character in every fighting game lmao. OP said it’s the highest level Chun Li THEY have ever seen, which doesn’t qualify as a hyperbole if you actually learned what the word means, unless you’re going to argue that pros DON’T succeed with extreme talent and hours and hours of playtime? Y’all pick the stupidest hills to die on, hating just to hate🤦🏿♂️
@@Sakaki98 this hyperbole bs runs rampant all over the social media, and media and internet at large. I have known people like that who always have to exagerrate every story, invent facts to make it sound cooler, and everytime they come home from a superhero movie it was "the best movie I've ever seen" and the game last night was "the best game of all time". And on the flipside, if they dont like Coldplay or whichever popular band, or Simpsons or whichever popular show, it is of course the WORST band or video game or tv show OF ALL TIME. If we keep using the expression "greatest of all time" this liberally for every little thing (this bowel movement I had this morning was the best I ever had) these words lose all meaning. Am I being a hater for just wishing for a bit more of a nuanced discourse and that we use language at a higher stylistic level than that to portray more complex contexts? Not everything has to be greatest or worst of all time. I mean even Simpsons comic book guy atleast gave some arguments behind his opinions. Would you think my opinion was valid if i had only seen one movie in my whole life, and then was gushing over how it was the greatest movie of all time, would that be a sensible statement?
This was amazing... so far one of the best Chun I saw in SF6.... beating Tokido with style, that's really something.... I feel SF6 will bring lots of fresh blood into the scene. super exciting.
@@dav1dgear my man knew exactly when to DI, sometimes the window is just too small for a reaction , specially when youre already commited to doing something else
@mouhalo nah not really 4:24, 6:04, 10:04, 11:42, 14:36, 15:16, 18:08, tokido got hit squarely no counter or anything so it means he just stays there and eats that DI. That is 7 mistake a mistake each round means he throws a way 3 and a half match. That is not good DI from chunli, that is Ken slow reaction. 😅
@@dav1dgear would your opponent win if you weren’t making mistakes? Would you win if you couldn’t exploit your opponents weaknesses? I don’t have nos excuses for toki, none .
This is my favourite Street Fighter 6 set so far. Absolutely amazing. I could feel the intention and drive to win from both sides. I'm trying not to sound cheesy, but it's incredible when the competitors' spirit shows through the characters on screen.
Is that what you call a huge moment for Africa one of them most corrupt countries in the world where there most the population die of lack of food or basic medicine in the thousands everyday yet a win at a game is a success? Have you lost the plot?
@@hasan1980hb It was a huge moment for South Africa though. You rarely see them in pro-level FGC let alone toppling Tokido--Japan's legend and former multiple world champ of SF.
Ingrained and Engraved Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. (Colossians 3:16) It’s interesting how our priorities can change. That’s why Bible memorization is so important. We have only so much room in our minds. Just as computers have a specific amount of memory to hold information, we have only so much memory in the minds that God has given us. So many of us know the latest gossip about Hollywood celebrities, or we can recite sports statistics or other interesting facts. But are we taking the time to fill our minds with the Word of God? When we get God’s Word into our minds, it will stay with us forever. And when we’re tempted, we’ll have it to recall and use. For instance, when the devil temped Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus defended Himself again and again with the Scriptures. And the apostle Paul referred to God’s Word as “the sword of the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:17) The psalmist wrote, “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11) This is essentially saying that our hearts will be kept by God’s Word because we keep God’s Word in our hearts. Let’s not waste our memory banks. Let’s fill them with important information. It’s great to carry the Bible in your pocket, backpack, or purse. It’s also great to have it on your phone. But the best place to carry the Bible is in your heart
The title kind of spoils the match, but it got me to watch it. I saw Tokido and Jabhim, who I only know as one of the African players who went 0-5 at Capcom Cup, and was like "No way. I've gotta watch this,"
This is my first time watching any Street Fighter content. I don't even know who the players are. But let me tell you, this was exciting! From the opening bell to the final match, that was his entertaining and exciting as it can get!
The surprised jump on Tokido’s face when that last level 3 went out was amazing. It is not fuckin’ easy to catch that man off guard. Fucking incredible play from Jabhim. Really looking forward to this rematch once Akuma releases. Toki’s gonna be WILD this game.
Tokido looking weak af in this game akuma ain’t gonna change anything. He was jumping way to much looked like a plat playing and dropping and combos . Sad to see he’s been dominate for a long time but he’s looking washed
So bizarre seeing Tokido wakeup DP/Super 4 times in just the first couple games of the set. He was playing like it was SF4 and he had FADC. It did not work a single time yet he just kept throwing it out. The nerves must have been absolutely insane for him to do all of that while also missing very easy punishes on blocked supers and such
Or he threw it and didn't care about winning infront of a crowd that went so radio silent everytime he done something right. Felt like he was labbing more than playing.
@@Darkness-ie2yl You don't even know if Sagat and Akuma are going to be exactly what Tokido and Bonchan expect they're going to be. Plus SF6's new mechanics may well invalidate some of the old SF5 strats.
Congratulations to Jabhim. Well played against a player a calbur of Tokido. Love the crowd support for the man and the respect given Tokido afterwards 😊
Saw this live on the stream earlier, Tokido's expression after that level 3 Chun-Li's super in the final match was priceless and the highlight of this whole tournament! 😂
African fans are super respectful. Sure they’re cheering for their local hero but they’re still applauding everytime Tokido wins a game or does something special
I love and have maximum respect for Tokido, Daigo and all "old era" live legends of fighting games, but the new generation is coming with great power and it will be very hard to beat them. I feel so lucky to live this 🙂
Don’t count out these “old guys” yet. The games still new, they will eventually start dominating. Eventually age will win but most are not even 40 years old yet and they have decades of experience of winning already.
Street Fighter turned me into a gamer at the young age of 6-7. I’d go to a corner store with my mom and an original Street Fighter arcade machine was in there. My eyes were level with the joystick and I’d ask my mom for a quarter. Hoping I could play just one game. And when I couldn’t play it, I’d watch the intro and the demo play totally entranced. 1989-1990.. so amazing to still see these characters , the moves. Still think it’s amazing!
What amazed me from Jabhim is that it's the first Chun that I see that could either do spacing and aggressive plays in a good rhythm. Mad GG to him ! Sad for Tokido but man that was such a beautiful match
I saw that Tokido did that neutral jump twice and I liked that Jabhim just stayed patient there not walking into any shenanigans. Also dude must have been working hard in the Fight Lab on "switching sides" in a fight because d*mn he was on point with that!
This made me a proud South African gamer.. We always play on high ping and lagg is a daily experience.. But to see someone on a stage like this.. I'm inspired❤️💯💪🏽
I swear this is my favorite tournament video. The energy is ridiculous, I get hyped just watching it. If this video doesn’t make you wanna play Street Fighter 6, then you cray cray
Bro if you thought Tokido has nerves this fight, that is an insane statement to make. Everyone and they momma know Tokido was just playing a bot for whatever reason lol
Definitely didn't look like the usual Tokido performance here, but in the end, it doesn't matter. Everyone knows we won't see true Tokido until Akuma is here.
It’s crazy how core fundamentals of thus game can be used to change the outcomes of fights even against pro players. The devs really did something very smart with thus game’s mechanics.
well, jabhim is like the level 8 computer himself, he punished tokido hard and didn't miss the combo once he got it. Not to mention he parried perfectly many times during the last few games was insane, his anti air was really something too. I'm a fan of tokido, but I think jabhim is stronger this time.
I’ve never been the one to watch other people play games but this had my heart racing! I wanted to learn how to play better and I’m blown away by the levels you put can achieve and get to! Well done to both guys and using Chun-Li so skillfully is just 🎯🎯🎯
If you are a pro player too, specially those from the old school Arcade era, you can tell that Tokito threw away couple of matchs and lost a few round on purpose for who knows whatever reason, you never see JP players Yolo wake up CA 3-4 times in a row like that, especially for Tokido, sometimes he never wake up CA even once in an entire tournament. We used to do that in the 90s, giving a "precedence round" to kids didn't know how to play in the arcade, just to make them happy, maybe that was what Tokido was doing, giving precedence rounds to make the crowd and Capcom happy, but he proably over did it lol. I am supprised to see most people couldn't tell because it was pretty obvious, in the 1st round he was doing a full 600 damage combo with hit confirms, and those perfect overhead setups. after the first round, he somehow switched to 350 damage basic combos as if he was trying to reduce tha damage. Also, those super obvious and slow drive impacts Tokido took near that wall were very strange, I played with Tokido a few times, his reaction is wayyyy faster than that. Street fighter nowadays are dumbed down for the "new player" to feel good in the game with very little or no practice, with simple input and moves covering half of the screen.
This was a really good analysis...coming from an 90's arcade player myself...I have been saying SF6 is an excellent game but..they put all these gimmicks drive impact etc...to give noobs a fighting chance...if SF6 did not have drive impact, modern controls, etc....results would be much different
Yep ...as a South African it's great seeing this clip ...Street fighter 2 was n still is the most popular game in the townships....In the early mid 90's ' as kids used to play it along with Mortal Kombat games .
Holy moley...amazing comeback from Tokido. About two slivers of life left, and he turns it around. Brilliant. Equally brilliant play from Jahbim as well...jeez. Amazing play by Jahbim as well pullang that perfect on Tokido. 😮
basically, yeah. it's real common for the crowd and commentators to get behind promising local players vs the titans - not usually much of a problem, since it rarely ends up like this. if this game turns out to be full of upsets, you'll see commentators openly showing bias for their favorite top player to come into their own with the game instead - show some of what makes them great. it's more about wanting to see cool things happen than anything else. everyone still loves and respects tokido.
Like 1000 VS 1 in there. It's good to see Chun did well in tournament. I think Tokido is still waiting for his Akuma to release. And it's good to see Jahbim respect Tokido at the end of the match, good sportsmanship is very important.
1000 vs 1🤔at their level of competition they know how to block out the crowd noise from their heads, these are professional gamers, not your average joe.A win is a win stop with the oh he won cause of the crowd stuff
Don't you see how laggy it is. Tokido couldn't do his usual stuff so he needed to improvise, while Jabhim is used to play like this: it's actually his soil
