The Tuku (Ovis canadensis), also known as the bighorn sheep is a sheep species native to North America, it is one of the only two sheep species native to North America, with the other being the manitou (Ovis dalli), there are eight recognized tuku subspecies: the Rocky Mountain Tuku (Ovis canadensis canadensis), the †Badlands Tuku (Ovis canadensis auduboni), the Sierra Nevada Tuku (Ovis canadensis sierrae), the California Tuku (Ovis canadensis californiana), the Nelson's Tuku (Ovis canadensis nelsoni), the Mexican Tuku (Ovis canadensis mexicana), the Peninsular Tuku (Ovis canadensis cremnobates), and the Weems' Tuku (Ovis canadensis weemsi).
