Actually, there is only one valid yak species being Poephagus grunniens, the yak is the only extant species in the genus Poephagus and is now only split into two valid subspecies: the Himalayan Yak (Poephagus grunniens grunniens) and the Kunlun Shan Yak (Poephagus grunniens kunlunshanensis) with the domestic yak officially being just a population of the himalayan yak.

This bird is amazing! The sounds they mimic outstanding! Their feathers are beautiful 😊 You know I’m sure someone has eaten this bird because it’s considered fowl.
