I know it's just an advertisement, but the look of excitement on the kid's face at the end punches my heart when I imagine him being given a bad grade or otherwise humiliated.
I love eating Nasi Goreng lol... And yep its malay for fried rice, while I was living over there it was one of my favourite foods, the first time I saw this add on TV over here I burst out laughing!
have you seen the one one with the teacher "this is what im talking about 'what does January 26 mean to Australians?' 'everybody gets a day off to watch the cricket" me and my friends say them all the time
I'm a recent transplant to Sydney from N.Y.C., and when I first saw this ad, I didn't KNOW that Australia actually had a fence going through the middle of the continent to literally keep the rabbits out, and I was like "what does a nazi named Goehring have to do with anything?" Nasi goreng is a very popular Malaysian take-away fried rice dish in, like, every town in Australia. So, you see armed with correct cultural references, this really quite funny! (who knew? not me.)
Nasi goreng, literally meaning "fried rice" in Indonesian and Malay, can refer simply to fried pre-cooked rice, a meal including stir fried rice in small amount of cooking oil or margarine, typically spiced with kecap manis (sweet soy sauce), shallot, garlic, tamarind and chilli and accompanied with other ingredients, particularly egg, chicken and prawns. There is also another kind of nasi goreng which is made with ikan asin (salted dried fish) which is also popular across the country.
Hehehe. So what would happen if the boy had access to Broadband? He'd discover that the wall was built mainly to keep out the Mongol invaders. He'd discover that Nasi Goreng is an Indonesian dish. Construction of the Great Wall of China began with under the Zhou Dynsasty when vassal states each built their own walls. Under the Qin Dynasty the walls were united, a symbol of the now united China. The wall was renovated during the Ming Dynasty. Just a little history there XD
hahaha poor kid I almost felt bad, they must have laughed at him when he did that presentation the kid also thought it was an odd answer by the look on his face 0:23
This is great ad ever. But Bigpond is ripping me off!!! I'm one of so many dumb Bigpond customers. I sign contract 24 months with Bigpond and I regretted it. I would love to hear the dad answers to the kid:' To keep Bigpond out of OZ. so many customers being ripped off'.
