does the srk 1.3 do internal spi for these like the 2130's?
@filipstojanovicmechanicale9265
Is there any difference between TMC5160 V1.0 and TMC5160 V1.2 because there is just that manual for V1.0?

I purchased the SKR1.3 and TMC5160 v1.2 from BigTreeTech, i first tried to simply connect the driver to the board but the command M122 returned Testing X connection... Error: All LOW on all axises piz help

Hello, you need make sure the power select jumper and the SPI jumpers on the board are right

Can you test it in 3d printer four silent test? Is it silent as 2130 or 2100 or 2208?

I use tmc2208 and silence but some issue. Layer shifting, axis shifting. I use two fans to cooling down. And the fans are not noctua so its not silence. The tmc5160 better than 2208 for torq and cooling. If it is silence i want to buy.

These drivers have a bad performance. Got four of the Bigtreetech TMC5160 and the noise and Vibration coming from the Motors is unbearable, especially in Spreadcycle. Bought the TMC5160 from Watterott later and they run very smooth and silent.

Damn, one driver costs like 5 LV8729, can someone explain to me, if it is really worth it?
@RicardoRibeiro-dorcari
@RicardoRibeiro-dorcari 5 лет назад
you need to know what is important to you, the tmc5160 work about the same as the 2130 but can reach 20A instead of the 2A of the 2130 and produces less heat.
@1998floris
@1998floris 5 лет назад
Ricardo Ribeiro the tmc5160 base chip can run 20A but the mosfets on the board actually dont support this. The watterott tmc5160’s can handle 3,5 amps if I’m not mistaken
@RicardoRibeiro-dorcari
@RicardoRibeiro-dorcari 5 лет назад
@@1998floris I just read from their github page, but now that you mention it I went to the schematic and if I didn't read it wrong those mosfets (FDMC8030) can handle 12A
@RicardoRibeiro-dorcari
@RicardoRibeiro-dorcari 5 лет назад
@npgoalkeeper _ I'm not an electronics guy but so the mosfets can actually go up to 12A peak (because I took the 12A value from the mosfet spec), but the limitation is temperature and the connectors, that I can understand.
@fnice1971
@fnice1971 5 лет назад
@@RicardoRibeiro-dorcari most Stepper Motors are only 1a to 2a rms that are used for 3d printers, unless upgraded otherwise, external mosfet's are needed to use anything over 3A continuous on these continuous as the mainboard mosfets wont handle it continuous. so once you add external mosfet's to the board you can ramp these drivers past the 3a. these options on this driver is mostly for cnc machines not 3d printers. As these boards are made for both 3d printers and cnc machines. This is overkill & marketing at its best. tmc2209's are a better bet for the price for a 3d printer. but good to tinker with if you have the extra money to throw around.

Don't buy TCM5160 unless you really need them. They are MUCH LOUDER in StealthChop than TMC2209.
@tylersutton2216
@tylersutton2216 3 года назад
why??
@TheNamelessOne12357
@TheNamelessOne12357 3 года назад
@@tylersutton2216 Because of too high resistance of current sensing resistor. At least on these polulu-style boards.
@danthemancasey
@danthemancasey 2 года назад
@@TheNamelessOne12357 The TMC2209 has a sense resistance of 0.11 Ohm while the TMC5160 has a lower sense resistance of 0.075 Ohm. Both chips run the exact same Stealthchop2 algorithm and with SAME firmware/ hardware configuration will function identically (with TMC5160 having greater current capability). The Trinamic TMC chips have thoroughly proven themselves worldwide to be "MUCH QUIETER". With all due respect please do not speak to specifics or functionality of which you are ignorant.
