After 4 Years of ownership, I felt it was time to do a review of this bike. They are a little thin on the ground now the First Generation Yamaha YZF R125, but they are still an exceptional bike and well worth getting as a first bike.

Nice video love theses machines I'd had a cagiva mito small capacity bike couple months back fastest little thing I've ever had even quicker than most 300s once power valve opens up lol shame because of ulez I sold her now but I'm now on a modern 4t as well its quite a suprise how smooth and chuckable theses newer bikes are plus no worrying of breakdowns such a relief in general they much better

I have the blue R125 also it was my first bike owned too and legal for looks I'd suggest changing the standard chain for the blue one they are known to have a restricted limit of 76 mph also a tip if you put them away in winter always roll it freely and squeeze breaks as they go sticky an can sometimes stick on great vid tho
@RokyRode

I've been a Yamaha fan for most of my living years...all but one bike I have ever owned has been a Yamaha ( granted I've not owned anything newer than my current 07 R1 ) anyway what I was gonna say is that I've never had any major issues mechanically. However I maintain mine religiously and I think that's the key to trouble free riding. My partner has a 2006 R6 but just sold it for a new R7 so I'm looking forward to having a blast on it soon.

I’ve got the limited edition 25 year anniversary 2009 yzf r125 and it has 17hp standard I’ve probably added an extra 3 or 4 hp with mods and it’s more tham enough power and has no problem with hills etc. I don’t ride like and idiot because I’m 38 years old and have kids to go home to but I honestly don’t think I’ll ever get rid of my bike I absolutely love it, I’ve had a few 125’s over the years but the yzf is by far my favourite hands down.

hey dude, im getting my BA1 this march, and im planning on getting a yzf 125, but with these prices, the cheapest is a 2016 for 1.3 mill huf, with its papers expiring in 23 october, meanwhile the 2022 model from saloon, brand new, 0 km, is only 2mill flat, with warranties and stuff but i will be a beginner on sport bike, i have been using a 05 scooter for 2 years now, around the village, but i havent used any bigger bikes, so its safe to say i might drop it as im learning what are your thoughts? i will have a budget of about 1.5 mill, and i can borrow from a close friend of mine, but is it even worth it? thanks a lot
@RokyRode

It is a little difficult to judge without knowing your currency but looking at those figures, I would say go new if you can.

It's hard to say. I should have asked my friend how tall he is. He rode my bike the other day no problem and you can apparently get a lowering spring for them.

Just got a 2023 mt125 struggles over 70 IV had it doing 85 down a hill tho 😂 I can relate to the CBT bikes being shit as well lol as to the oil changes you could do them yourself it only holds a liter and it's like 4 bolts to do

I might have to check that. The disc lock is wedged in there I'm sure, just need to check the other bits.

Does the r125 have gear indicator
@RokyRode
@RokyRode Год назад
Nope. At least not on the first generation bike. It is one of the things that annoys me about the bike. Everyone says you don't need a gear indicator but I want one. Creature comforts etc.

@jamesgreen1614 I wish we had similar rules this side of the pond. I'm not fully clued up on American bike licence rules but I'm sure I've seen learners in USA on 250s etc, seen some on R3's and wish we could over here but yes, over here learner's are stuck on 125s. They look great but they aren't fast by any means. Enough to learn on though 👍
@RokyRode
@RokyRode Год назад
Yeah we're stuck learning on 125's over here unless you go full test. I think some of Europe is the same. Love Americans. You guys always do vehicles bigger than us. Just look at American Muscle cars. So nice, and proper big engines.
