Like, Share & Subscribe! While we were in Washington DC for ebiking, we also wanted to ride some of the C&O canal trail. This 184 mile long trail has a suprize around every bend. From the historic locks, an old cave, this is truly a trail to remember. Thanks for watching.

I remember cycling this with my dad in early 70"s. It had a spot on the trail where you could see quicksand. You could put a stick in it and watch it disappear! The path was very primitive back then

We bought a different model of the Sena helmets but totally agree they are much safer to have communication between us, but the other essential is we get to talk to one another about our day if we are taking an evening ride but also point out interesting things along the trail. Love them! It makes your ride into a Bike Date!

We test rode e-bikes for a year and half before we finally dialed in on exactly what we wanted. Rented several as well. Try before you buy!

One of my favorite trails! It's on my bucket list to do the whole thing, as I've done sections on bike and others (including where you're filming) on foot. The river (the Potomac) is all Maryland - WV is the far side starting at their shore. Did you go up to the caves where the townsfolk hid during the battle of Antietam?

It is definitely a good one. We only found one cave. We went from Shepherdstown to harpers ferry and just a little bit beyond harpers ferry. I believe it’s 180 some miles and we only did about 15 or so. So a lot more to explore. Thanks for watching.

@@southernebiking The caves I'm referring to would be about a mile or two upstream from where you crossed at Shepherdstown. Yeah it's a long trail from Cumberland to DC but one of our ebikeing brethren has done the full length and posted it on RU-vid. I figure when a retire in a few years I'll follow his stops for recharging.

@@southernebiking You mention rafting the rapids near the end of the video. If you come back there are rafting trips down the Shenendoa with some cool rapids. The trip ends up in Harpers Ferry where the Shenendoa meets the Potomac. I did the trip as a kid when I was a Scout - great fun and highly recommended.

Blaine, I do not see a lock at 22:20. Or is my definition of a lock different than yours? Too bad you do not carry a zoom camera to take videos of Locks and things that the action camera just does not see.

Too bad most states sees this class ebikes as low-speed vehicles with the same “rights” as bicycles. If I was riding a suron, or something, we might have some room to talk. But this way, not so much. Bless your heart, have a great day.
