In the start you say oil is denser than water. Which means oil is heavier than water. I just cracked my self with that intro.😂

My bad. It's an honest mistake. Sorry

Good luck! You can do it.

Why do we have a bilge pump taking suction from sea chest?
@ShipAhoyVlogs
@ShipAhoyVlogs Год назад
its not necessarily termed as bilge pump, but a pump that draws out water from the sea chest used to flush the OWS.

Sir, pls allow me to ask you a question. How sensing probe (capacitance probe) detects oil? i mean how it works? the sensing probe is located at the top of First stage chamber on OWS.

I am not an electrical expert although I had vocational courses in Radio Mechanics...somehow I do understand a bit. Capacitance sensor as the word implies .." capacitance'. When in operation the sensor produces capacitance range in the principle of an electric field via the probes. This 2 charges (+ & - ) are in equilibrium. When a certain conductive material externally is placed within the field e.g. oil, water, etc. The field is disrupted. Hence, the initial capacitance changes its value. Hence, it triggers the sensor to analyze it's change and thereby gives a signal in the form of reading e.g. alarm, counter, or level,.etc. They are calibrated of course in relation to your system e.g. containment. These are widely used in many system even conveyors for counting objects, ballast tanks, and many more. You can find more info in other RU-vidrs with animations and we'll laid in details.

sir, how 15ppm monitoring system zero calibration is done?
@ShipAhoyVlogs
@ShipAhoyVlogs 2 года назад
Check with your manufacturers manual for the process of Calibration. Different makers has each own steps written in the manual. The accuracy of 15 ppm should be checked at IOPP Certificate renewal surveys using makers instructions. Or, replaced the unit by a calibrated 15 ppm alarm.

Hello Sir,I have a question. On the simulation of PPM to value zero, why the 3 way valve closes the overboard valve side and opens back to the Bilge tank.
@ShipAhoyVlogs
@ShipAhoyVlogs Год назад
It's the simulator used in this presentation. I supposed to input 16ppm to activate but it did not accept. Hence, zero value did the trick. Sorry for the confusion.

CHECK YOUR INLET PIPE IN FIRST STAGE. WHY THIS PIPE FITTED BELOW WAFFLE PLATE COMPARING WITH OTHER OWS.

Its just a conventional design.

This kind of OWS is not effective against emulsions.
@ShipAhoyVlogs
@ShipAhoyVlogs 2 года назад
Thanks for your input Sir. The 3D model used in these presentation was utilized for the sake of discussion. Not all emulsion but most likely Oil emulsion or effluent will be separated. However, as mentioned most OWS are also designed to take off contaminants or other emulsions. Of course, inject , scrutiny, correction and suggestion is much needed for better understanding.
