As a 'global ecologist' I am keen to understand what is actually going overboard. I am one of those who are starting to look into what leaves the dock comes back to the dock. This includes the fact that what is on board never changes in volume in terms of food/drink etc. Matter is matter. So the storage may be a problem, due to space and weight but I can not see it being impossible. With the advent of hydrogen powered electric propulsion systems I believe shipping has the chance to be extremely ecologically minded. This could be a huge game changer for our future.

@ShrimptoShark

Solid trash is accumulated, sorted, and burned (I hope to show this in the future) in the incinerator as well as heavy sludge (as shown in my sludge management video).
@usamajadoon352
@usamajadoon352 4 года назад
Very well explained ..but if air blower stop will sewage plant will run or not ..
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 4 года назад
It will run, however not for long, first the bacteria will die thus the decomposition of sewage in the first chamber will be poor, then large sludge will be transfered to the setting tank and without air from the blower there will be no recirculation to the bacteria chamber. The sludge will then clog the screens and eventually the whole system will be clogged, you will notice because the discharge pump will not automatically start because no new sewage will go to the chlorination tank (4th chamber).

@ShrimptoShark 4 года назад
Heya Kim, well there is another video I plan on uploading eventually which shows the chemical Gamazyme from UNITOR and how to apply these bacteria in our black and Grey water system.
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 4 года назад
To directly reply to your question, after washing or backflushing a tank we add bacteria and while the system is working (Sewage air and water mixed) bacteria will start to reproduce and about a few days to a week for full performance (according to the manual) check the manual of your Sewage plant for unique details respective to your local system.

@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 2 года назад
Well our ship had 30 crew and we used a holding tank.. I mean you can not discharge black/Grey water in Port you must be outbound
@usamajadoon352
@usamajadoon352 5 лет назад
Nicely explained . If blower is not working how than what will happen .
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 5 лет назад
Hello Usama! Well the blower in our case can be stopped due to the forward or back end bearing being stuck (it should be changed every 6 months) also if high load (if someone forgets to open air valves) which will cause an overload trip, and another case is simply someone turns it off because of a leak in gakset and the blower expels bad smelling gas out (which I've heard has happened).
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 5 лет назад
Now the consequences for the blower not running are numerous! It's connected to 3/4 chambers! 1)areobic bacteria WILL DIE, and be replaced with anareobic bacteria like explained in the video. 2)the return line of the sedimentation tank will not work therefore heavy sludge will stay at the bottom and clog the return line and eventually the whole system! 3)the activated carbon tank has a screen at the bottom as shown in the video to keep floating soilds out.. If there is no air these solids will be slowly pressured into the screen and without any air to free them, will become stuck! Blocking this chamber as well.. And maybe you can imagine some other problem? To tell you the truth this system is interesting if you go in details haha
@usamajadoon352
@usamajadoon352 5 лет назад
@@ShrimptoShark so in that will sewage in the aeration break in small component i suppose no ..because the bacteria in the aeration chamber needs oxygen which eat and reduce into small particles . But i am confuse how the settle sediment again transfer to primary tank by which means
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 5 лет назад
usama jadoon I mention this @ 3:16 where heavy sludge sinks to the bottom of the tank. Air from the blower creates a sort of ejector that sends this sludge in a return line to the 1st bacteria tank in order to continue decomposition of heavy sewage.

@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 2 года назад
OK quick answer the tank or manual usually says how much concentration you will dose for example on that plant it was 12.5% NaCl.. We had in our chemical store 90%NaCl liquid.. So you need to make a V/V solution.. The tank is 20L.. So 12.5% of 20L is 2.5L of 100% NaCl.. Since the chemical we had is 90% you need to factor that in so you make a correcting factor 1.1.. 2.5 * 1.1 = 2.75L of NaCl (90%) to make a solution of 12.5% in the 20L tank. I hope that's clear.. If the you have tablets instead it would be 1g = 1ml

@@ShrimptoShark ok thank you... I have 12.5 % solution on board. So i don't have to add any water to it???

@@vinayakk6328 if the chemical is already 12.5% you don't need to add any water! Just fill the chemical tank normally! But make sure that the plant requires that concentration

What is the type sewage?
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 5 лет назад
This sewage plant is made to receive both black and grey waters. The difference between these types of sewage I want to show in a future video about the chemical bacteria GAMAZYME and the maintenance of these pipelines. However if you are curious a good rule is: Black Water - From toilets and the Hospital (Where water is possibly infected) - Very dirty sewage Grey water - From Sinks, Showers, Galley, drains in the accommodation, Laundry, etc. can be contaminated with cleaning chemicals, food, soap, and domestic stuff like that.
