It wasn't fake. It's not that hard to read his body language. In both the Jets, press conference and this one, that he is sincerely trying to please his audience and nervous in doing so. . Somewhere along the way that changed but he's not faking it here.

If I’m not mistaken I think he coached another two years, both losing records. He has since fallen into obscurity taking on multiple college coordinator positions, and never found his footing. He retired in 2015.
