You're exactly right. The Knicks would have won a few more titles if Reed had ever been healthy. He was never 100% healthy in any of those championship years.
Being a NYC native and a kid growing up in Queens it was 1 heck of a time to be alive! NY was a large forbidding City. There was Urban Decay. Riots. Strikes. Crime. Etc. But a group of MEN...and FANS...United and were improbably successful! RIP Captain Willis Reed🗽🌉🪄🏀🏆🏀🏆🏙️
same old stories nothing new here Willis was a lot more than game 7 .It was the great battles with Russ and WILT and Cowens and the great great battles with Unseld. ANOTHER game 7 forgotten was the beating the Knicks put on the 68 win Celtics in 73 in Boston Garden. Everybody knew who Willis Reed was back then and the whole world waited for him to come back from his injuries and win another championship. That 73 team has 5 players on the 75th anniversary team I think more than any other team. To me that's how I thought basketball was always supposed to be played but actually it was probably incomparable
