Every couple/few decades you will have hundreds of sports fields worth of dead batteries, that certain elements can take up to 1000 years to fully decompose. That's completely leaving out the devastating demand on the already, Stressed. Electrical grid, mostly using coal, gas. To charge tens/hundreds of millions of cars, Even with hydrogen because its separated from natural gas using electrolysis, From, You guessed it, The electrical grid. You still will need the natural gas infrastructure, so nothing really changes.. 1 The mining for core elements causes sulfur rain (very bad for the environment) then to just add to the impact some of the elements have to be shipped multiple countries for refinement. 2 The vehicle can need tens of thousand of those battery cells, unless its specifically designed cells like bmw 3 The lithium batteries have a relatively short lifespan of use 4 The lithium batteries have increased degradation in cold, damp, wet climates, conveniently unaccounted for 5 The lithium battery cells are very sensitive to charging, optimal charging range is only around 40% of the battery capability, otherwise increased degradation of the cells. You cannot fully charge the battery and you cannot fully depleted the battery without damage, so a lot of the cars have built in computer systems to monitor the batteries health as cells degrade or die, if outside of optimal conditions, reducing the capacity and your range... 6 lithium ion batteries are unstable under load and have a tendency to catch fire, which is why it's advisable not to track an EV as any extended performance is risky, even just damaging cells through heat saturation, it's white Tesla has such a problem tracking the model3. 7 The efficiency of current technology batteries are already at 95% and even with graphite technology you need to break the speed of light to increase efficiency anymore, currently impossible! 8 The fire service currently use water, not good when you're trapped in electric vehicle! 9 The power to weight ratio of the vehicle becomes poor, because of the weight of the battery pack. that is what was so amazing about O&A they had literal comedy legends hanging out together for hours at a time bashing each other non stop. There was nothing like it. Radio and comedy will never be this good ever again. You had shows where like 3 or more of the greatest comedians of all time were hanging out for hours shooting the shit. This sounds like Prius was barely on the market for very long before this originally aired. If that's the case, it is understandable to be skeptical of a new design with such optimistic goals. Turns out, 20 years +/- later, Toyota did a hell of a job. I don't recommend buying any brand new designs, even in conventional cars until they've been around a few years.

But today we have protected classes where you are not allowed to say anything without facing some sort of repercussion. So the comedy doesn’t hit as well for a lot of us.
