That progression Bill does over an F diminished scale at 0:14 has to be one of the most breathtaking thing's I've ever heard. He is hands down my favorite pianist of all time.
@@R34LITY_SUX Well it isn't all over the diminished scale. Its based off the top note of each voicing. The first two bars are just a Bb major scale, but the last is an F diminished scale.
I think this version is much more precise than the versions I've seen before, wonder if you have perfect pitch. The lower Bb in bar 2 is very tricky for me to hear as I feel the quartal voicing is blurred by some note.
Thank you for pointing it out. After a few more listening I think there should not be a B-flat in the left hand in bar 2. The pedal is released shortly after the L.H. chord is played - therefore it creates an ambiguous sound in terms of voicing.
@@abu4064 Really interesting phenomenon, it sounds like the dimming fluorescence of the lamp soon after it is turned off. Thanks for the reply and please keep up the great work!
Slow it down (click the wheel on video and look for playback speed) then tap the LH rhythms on your chest or leg until you’re confident. Also use numbers to count the rhythms out loud, “1 2 and and 1”.
@@UkuleleAversion i think I meant the comment on another video. Sometimes RU-vid does this when the video autoplays into another and I'm still typing a comment
@@abu4064 You're welcome! You know, Paul Motian the drummer on this recording, remarked that in 5 years he's played with Bill, live and in studio, Evans never made a single mistake, especially time/ meter wise. I find that remarkable.
