@@dmc3079 His rants about the Warren Commission make you realize that if he were still alive today, part of his routine would be a rant about 9/11 and who was truly responsible for the towers collapsing. His narcissism allowed him to believe in a daydream that most of us realize is bullshit by the age of 13: if only everyone was like me, there would be no trouble on the planet..... Bill will always have the deluded, overzealous fans to uphold the illusion that he had prophetic abilities.

You know, theres something about suffering that opens the mind. There are situations that we go thru that we cant do anything about, and it forces you to think, hard. And when you come across that situation, have no answers, and cant seem to find a solution, a seed to find out how you could have fixed that situation is planted. And afterwards you continue thinking about it. You run it thru your mind over and over until its burned into your brain. And then one day, you find an answer. I dont know what he went thru, but it must have been hellish to have found so many answers.

reminds me of a time we did a (metal) gig in rural missouri. we're doing our first set, fights breaking out everywhere, the owner stops the us and the fighting dies down, country girls are all over us, doing beer bongs and having fun when we notice the cowboys are not pleased, we start to play again, the fights break out again, we stop out of concern for our equipment. a guy falls on the stage all bloody after being hit over the head with a beer bottle, our cash from the door is stolen.

Bill Hicks. Credit where it's due; good story-teller, good stage presence, very good timing. No problems there. The added idea that he was some sort of 'philospher' of (more laughably) a 'genius' are proof positive how shallow pop culture is. Good standup. Nothing more.
