Jimmy Greaves used to walk up my garden path when he was a kid, knock on my next door neighbours door for his mate, and play football in the parsloes Park outside my living room window. Obviously before I was born. My Grandparents told me about it. (I own the house now) They told me he was a little kid with a big football tucked under his arm and that he was brilliant even as a kid. I miss these days back in the 80's. All of those legends. Real people.
Lovely bloke Jimmy. Saint and Greavsie was a massive part of my childhood on Saturday dinnertime. Always seemed at ease in front of the camera and never forced his jokes or rushed anything. Great bloke, probably won't get better but hope he's as comfortable as possible.
I always think of Jimmy when I see these million pound forwards miss a one on one with the keeper. When Jim went one one one, you could go out for a beer, safe in the knowledge that he was going to score!
When I see footage of TV am I get very nostagic i miss those days so much and still and always will much much better than the crap now i wish there was time machine to go back to the good old days now and stay there if i could no doubt it
Hannibal Barca I’m not sure? If only there was some kind of mechanism or engine if you like for searching for information on the fucking internet. Why hasn’t anyone invented this yet? 🤤
Ironic that Greavsie is wearing the light-blue kit that he criticised when it was introduced at the start of the 82-83 season. I think he called it "poofy blue" and said that if Dave Mackay had been given it to wear, he would have rolled about in a puddle of mud first!
