When I saw Willie Nelson me and my friends stood up when Willie came on and when the old people behind us asked us to sit down after he started playing, we did. It wasn't a big deal, and then we all shared a joint. I think the problem Bill had wasn't the generation gap or rude millennials.... it was that he needs to be in a box.

I live in Florida where there are tons of senior citizens. When I was in the hospital, there were signs everywhere explaining that the nurses and other medical personnel would be using their cell phones for work. You know they had complaints, if they had to put up a sign. I’m 54 and I use my iPhone for almost everything.

I saw the Rolling Stones in the nosebleeds at MGM Grand 11 years ago with my friends (we were all about 20) and in the entire venue (i don't even know, 5000 seats? 10000?) there was like no one sitting down the entire show. Maybe 0.1% of the audience. Even with an audience that was like 50% seniors.

As a performing musician, I think it’s everybody’s personal prerogative whether they wanna sit or stand. But put down your phone and enjoy the goddamn present for once, haha. A lot of work goes into creating that specific spatial/temporal experience, and it’s a little disheartening to look out and see a bunch of backs of phones - yo it’s like gazing into a warped tableau of disconnected posterities like some kinda audient void, homey D:
