The difference between conservatives and liberals is conservatives believe you live with that choice regardless of the extent that is a detriment to other humans and society. Liberals believe in personal responsibility but believe their needs to be safeguards for the greater good. You want to ban abortion? Where will all the unwanted babies go? Currently 80% of foster kids get arrested before reaching adulthood. The system is overrun-will it get better with thousands of unwanted kids? Then everyone becomes victims of juvenille deliquency and crime 15, 20 years down the road. And we know how conservatives feel about crime. Honestly, I'm a man so the choice is not up to me. Whats realistic is that people can simply just not get pregnant. Noones saying not to fuck, 20 different people. Just saying, don't concieve during the process of your sexual journey. Its not like the contraception isn't readily available. If it fails, then it sucks, but what if that kid could have solved cold fusion, but instead you decided to crush its skull and have its brain sucked out.

Again, personal responsibility is great. But criminalizing abortion will bring upon a host of issues upon the greater society. IS your ideology willing to make sure all those unwanted babies find good homes? Are conservatives willing to account for and address all the problems banning abortion would bring?

That's the thing about libertarianism...it sometimes forces one to make arugments that, on the surface, seem extreme but if a person has a true deep understanding of it, those arguments will ring true if argued properly. Obviously, Rubin hasn't yet gotten to that level of understanding. And I realize TMR has substantive discussions, but I think they do themselves a disservice when they make all these anti-Rubin videos. When I was a teenager I was briefly interested in it but it's usually something people grow out of when they learn about politics and history and what makes effective policy in the real world. I recommend you watch the long discussions Sam has had with Libertarians on TMR [callers as well as academics and commentators] it demonstrates that even when they're given the space to explain their views they don't stand up to much scrutiny......Or simply call in yourself sometime if you think it's a philosophy for adults - he's always happy to hear Libertarians out & ask them questions. As for Rubin's interview style....If you like someone who just agrees with everything his nutty guests argue, that's fine. He primarily has people on espousing very similar stuff that I've heard thousands of times so it's not for me.

Libertarianism is a philosophy, not a political ideology. I live my life by that philosophy, which means undertaking a deeper look at personal ethics and upholding principles in a consistent manner. This is what differentiates libertarians from liberals...consistently principled arguments rather than emotionally based "moral" arguments. Liberals seem fine with forcing their morality onto others against their will and doing it in the name of democracy, which is basically the rule of the majority against the minority? To me that's the crux of the difference between liberals and libertarians. Just because the will of the majority wants something, doesn't mean it's the moral thing to do against the minority.

@@FirebirdCamaro1220 it's absolutely not that simple. i just looked up the details and what i'm seeing indicates that dave rubin always emphasized liberty over equality which already set him at odds with most of TYT. then, over the course of the 2016 shitshow and trump's election, he began to believe that the hard left's identitarianism is a threat to the liberty of the whole country and that the liberal left isn't standing up to the hard left. he's made it abundantly clear that he doesn't support identitarianism and can no longer support most leftists as a result. but he doesn't call himself a conservative nor does he espouse conservative positions. he really sounds like more of a centrist than anything else. of course, you probably just lump centrists in with rightists. regardless, what i read about rubin's relationship with Learn Liberty (the organization that the kochs have donated a few million to over the years) doesn't indicate he sold out. it sounded like the 2016 election and its fallout led him to do some self-reflection and he came to conclusions you don't agree with. so unless you can provide an example of a more obvious quid pro quo, i don't have any reason to believe you any more than you believe us when we talk about quid pro quos at the clinton foundation.
